seat belts/harnesses are there to help protect you and save your life. if you're going to replace the oem's, then you better be replacing them for something better.

especcially not for some half-ass knock off mugen crap that you probably aren't even attaching correctly to begin with

The harness is too small, get wider belts. Takata is NOT the best wtf LOL...Sparco is nice, GFORCE, real race car harness are CHEAP. And wide. Go into detail you can go for hours how to mount a harness, etc.

Silver280zx

Or just buy the Momo ones, thats what im going to do when i get some $$$$.

JITB
06-03-2008, 01:04 AM
if ur gonna buy takata, u might as well keep the mugen power ones! lol

Everyone is making fun of the Ebay harnesses but I promise you as long as they're at least decently mounted they WILL perform better than the stock CRX seat belts. Neither of my stock door mounted seat belts lock under 98% of conditions; they're useless. I could sit there & pull at it at different speeds all day & it might lock 1/100 times.

So anyway, I rock some Ebay harnesses too. If the G-Force are actually affordable then I will consider but Takata and Sparco harnesses (prices) are out of the question.

are they mounted properly and at the correct angles?

Yes they are! I would not just throw them in there. I don't do any serious racing or anything. Its just to play around with a little. :goodjob:

Yeah I agree 100%! These belts do a hell of a lot more then my stock one did. Thanks for the comment.

And also I didn't want a 16inch wide belt to do formula 1 racing with. I just wanted these for what little bit of stuff I do. I drive this car just about every day back and forth to work 60 miles. And I didn't want those huge belts! I mounted these correctly, I have been working on cars for 6 years so I know how to bolt up some belts.

Elbow
06-03-2008, 07:05 AM
How are they mounted? The shoulder belts.

Athens_Red_Rexin
06-03-2008, 11:29 AM
Well first I had them bolted up with the side belts. Then I changed it, and have them around the rear strut bar. But I am just doin that temporary because I am gonna drill holes in the body and bolt them up behind the seat to the floor.

Elbow
06-03-2008, 11:34 AM
Yeah change that asap lol

Athens_Red_Rexin
06-03-2008, 11:39 AM
Yeah I really didn't like them bolted up to the side belts because they were hard to adjust. And then it's pretty ghetto on the bar! It will get changed soon. How do you have yours? I haven't paid them any attention at the meets.

really like the seats and harness. goes good with the car and will hold you in alot better. Performance> looks

you really need a harness bar though. spinal compression FTLLL

Elbow
06-03-2008, 03:16 PM
^True

and as for mine the shoulder belts are wrapped around the roll bar, and everything else bolted in.

The seat/harness setup looks great.

I do agree to keep an eye out for some better harnesses, but also agree that they are an upgrade from stock crx belts lol.

Athens_Red_Rexin
06-03-2008, 06:07 PM
Isn't the only way to get a harness bar is to have a roll cage?

green91
06-03-2008, 08:53 PM
Roll bar, yes. You shouldnt run the shoulder harnesses without a harness bar. In the event of an accident, without a harness bar the shoulder harnesses will actually pull you downward compressing your spine rather than holding you back. Having the harness bar changes the angle so that the shoulder harnesses can hold you from going forward.

Athens_Red_Rexin
06-03-2008, 09:31 PM
^So can I just run them to the B pillar brace that I have? I built the bar and I can reinforce it and make it super strong!

Elbow
06-04-2008, 01:18 AM

Yeah thats where mine were. But I was told not to put them there because in a wreck it would compress my spine. But I liked them better on the rear strut bar. I might just put them back. :goodjob: Are you comin to the V tomorrow? If so we could be the rear strut bar belt crew!

I Mounted mine to a stupport bar that runs laterally between my struts on the trunk floor at about a 35 degree angle, however, i do have a Z not a crx. And, by the way Matt, your harnesses are fine, your not raceing the car on Road Atlanta. They also dont look bad, they match.
