anyone else have this problem??... i went to like 3 different places today and got rejected because i couldnt fit on their lift...
damnit man... i dont want to DIY. i mean i can but it's so much more convenient to just drive in and drive out.
discuss if interested.

Slightly OT but in case you didn't know, making your own set of wooden ramps for low susp. cars is cheaper than paying up for an oil change at most places.
But try Midtown Tire on Ponce.. never had a problem with any car.. though I prefer DIY changes these days. They charge approx. $25 for an oil change and 4 tire rotation.

Just DIY. It takes 30mins tops and you dont have to worry if they put the right amount in or what not.

Yeah, and you wouldn't have to worry about them forgetting to put the oil cap back on.

yeah shops suck. kubias wrecked my car once, tires plus didnt put my tranny mount bolt in, another shop didnt put tranny fluid in after a flush, and i had a shop in macon not change a fuel filter like they were supposed to but charged me for it. i do everything to my car now.

walmart put red thread locker on my oil drain plug one time... never again will I let someone else touch my car.
just made them drive the car up on 1" wood piece, and after that the arms will be able to get underneath the car.

Take it to Quality Auto Care on Hwy 29 in between Beaver Ruin and Indian Trail. They ALWAYS do my car, and i'm lower than you. I'm with you on it being more convenient to let someone else do it. I don't have time to sit there and roll my car on wood ramps, jack it up, get under, blah blah blah. Fuck it. I take my own oil and filter, tell them how much oil they need to put in, and let them do the rest. It's only about $10-$11 and i'm in and out in no time. They're super friendly too :goodjob:

i worked at an (american service station) and they had me do some shady stuff like not change a filter, not change the oil at all, one time I had to change the oil on a VW and the undertray bolts were stripped so they just ripped it off and told me to just leave it off.
point of this little story is
CHANGE YOUR OWN OIL
because no one cares about ur car like u do.

I hear jiffy lube has good and fast service
... ok that was a joke, please don't go there. alot of places just have a ditch in the ground, so you don't need to fit on a lift. but then again, in the time you spent going to 3 diff places, probably could've done your own oil change.

For what? Looking out the window is nowhere near as much work as changing clothes, putting a car on wooden ramps, jacking up the car, placing jack stands, possibly fighting with the bolt, then doing all that over again in reverse order.
Besides, it's not that hard to pop the hood and check for a filter. Takes 2 secs at most.

theres a lil more than that. i got 3 main points i want to get at.
1. how do u know u are getting the right oil for your car and or what u even paid for. most places oil pumps arent labeled the person putting the oil in just has to know which 1 is which. thats just going on my personal experience working for places like that back in the day.
2. is how do u know that they didnt cross thread your filter. just got it tight enough to seal and not leak for now. ive seen that done.
3. the oil pan bolt u know how many oil change spots really change the crush washer let along give a fuck if the bolt goes in or comes out cross threaded. i worked at 1 shop the bolt came out cross threaded told the boss. he told me to put it back in and make it work.
point being get off your ass and change your own oil. dont be lazy an take it to these we dont give a fuck shops with high school kids making 6.50 an hour who dont give a flying fuck about anything because its a throw away job to them.

Get some wood 2x8s, two 30" long, two 14" long. Nail the 14" on top of the 30" so its like a step. Drive up onto it. You can now swing spiders under your car to lift it on a lift.

all points are very scary and really make me want to change my own oil... but...
i forgot it in the OP... the main reason is because i live in an apt... so i cant really do that kind of stuff because they get really pissy and my neighbors think they live in the ****ing ritz carlton or something... and my parents driveway is supposed to "stay clean" so i can be changing my oil there... basically i dont really have:
1) the place
2) the equipment
3) the patience
... got it changed today btw at a quick lube and watched them the whole time... everything went well and it was only like $30... it was worth the 15 minutes it took them to do it while i was on lunch break...

O yea, I forgot changing your own oil makes you a REAL MAN  Not all of us have time to feel like a "real man". I'd rather take it to a shop that i've been going to for years, that are up right and honest and friends of the family and be in and out in under 10 minutes and pay $10 for them to change my oil, with the oil and filter that I provided. Is my time worth $10? I think so...

I find it funny when we do oil changes and do a free check(goodyear tires) of breaks, and simple crap how many ppl bi*ch and moan about having work done 5-10 years ago and how its fine. As long as you dont do that, OR you don't HOVER OVER THE PERSON who is working you ur car like their mutha ****n shadow then ur good. If u stand back and watch, everyone is happy.
Oh yea, any man who lowers his car then doesn't wanna get "dirty" to change the oil in 30min(i've done it in my good clothes plenty of times.) you need to sell your car and go ahead and put ur rainbow scarf on.

Dealerships are no better than anywhere else. They just carry a lot more liability insurance than your average corner shop.
About Jiffy Lube/Other Quick Oil & Lube places: We won't take lowered cars that often either at most stores. We have tire-guards to keep the cars from driving into the bay, and they tend to stick up higher than your average 4-point lift's arms. If a 4-point can't get you, most Quick Oil places can't help you. Even more only have bays with lifts on them that your car would get stuck on either way. Short of it is: Change it yourself, and that's coming from the guy who's an assistant manager of a Jiffy Lube. I hear crap all the time about how terrible this place is, or that place, or how bad Jiffy Lube is, and alot of it is customers not having a ****ing clue what's actually going on, or customers abusing their cars to the point that we can't help them, then blaming us when their **** breaks.
The biggest thing I will explain to you, that many people do not seem to grasp is...yes, anywhere you go might **** up your car. You could **** up your car too, very easily. The difference is, if WE **** up your car, we pay to replace whatever got destroyed. If you do it, you get to kick yourself while you pay someone else to fix it.
Added:
If you were in a rush Slovic, why did you take your car to Slo-mart? I can't stand going there for anything, they took two and a half hours to do my Fiance's mom's car. I was the only car they worked on the whole time. :|

hahaha you have no idea. if you work as an assistant manager at a jiffy lube and you want to call a dealership anything other than "better" you might wanna think again. i can't speak for all dealerships, but i know that at mine we are all required to go through extensive training, obtain ASE's and not fvck up or you can get fired. i have lowered cars come in all the time, and my bay has a four arm lift. simple solution, jack the front of the car up enough to get the arms under and you are golden.

2 2x4s or Low floor jack will get you on a lift. There has been a couple of times I have seen a Lexus to low but we manage. I think one of the guys is on IA. Its a black cherry GS430 with JP wheels and badges.
