This is getting out of hand.... Just a few weeks it was in the low $90 range which was still high but in the past 2 weeks its gone up about $2 per day and each day closes at a new record high.

we are screwed b/c they basically have a monopoly; the top 4 refineries are American/British owned. the oil industry hasn't taken losses in years; most have recorded record gains. with the wonderful excuse of the Chinese. i can understand this to a point but China didn't just all of sudden gain millions of cars + drivers in past couple years. our prices are all about GREED. i just heard a study that that hybrid sales have increased 60% ;)

Uh, yes it did. I've been 3 times. In 2002 (first time I went), you were considered wealthy if you're family had a car. 1 car to share!. I just got back again in feburary, and everyone in my fiances parents neighborhood now has a car. In 2002 there might of been 10 cars in the whole neighborhood. There used to be almost no middle class. Now it's exploded, and their middle class is growing like crazy. I can't believe how much it's changed in the past few yrs.

To make matters worse India is almost growing at the same rate.

Wrong. Opec is raising the prices because of the weakening dollar. The white house is full of douches that don't want to talk about the weakening dollar either.

Sammich

The Ninja

Dollar is weakening because the rest of the world is doubting we have the potential to pay back the serious debt we are in. Gold doesn't back our $, faith does. If no one has faith in our $, then it will weaken. Greed is definitely playing a role, and probably a 20-30% role in why **** is ****ed up.

This country is ****ed until Citizens elect politicians that don't have ties to big business. Corporations and the elitist run this country and I really hope that ppl will eventually see this. I think there should be a cap on campaign spending, and candidates should only be allowed to debate on live television and not be allowed to have commercials/ internet ads.

I know I am a dreamer, this will never happen

You need to join the debate over in the Wallstreet forum. You are one of those people that think "big business" is sooooo evil and bad for america?

No, there should not be a cap on campaign spending.....the candidates have worked hard for that money and should be allowed to spend whatever money they want to. People should not be punished for being RICH! The rich get richer because they keep doing what made them rich. The poor get poorer because they keep doing what made them poor (NOTHING!)

This is the reason why this country will never again see a decent president. Work hard??? Candidates mostly get their money donated to their campaign by special interest groups, Corporations and by regular citizens. Some candidates spend a lot of their own money like Romney. The presidential race is basically what politician slept with what and how many special interest groups/ Corporations to get the funding to have all those tv ads/ publicity . I don't give a fu.ck about who is rich or who is poor, but when candidates have to payback those special interest groups and corporations with favors once he or she is elected, this is why are country has so many damn problems

Wrong. If you are claimed as someone else's dependent, you will not be recieving a stimulus check.

As found from:irs.gov (http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=177937,00.html)

Q: I know some people won’t get a stimulus payment. How do I know if I’m one of them?

A: You won’t get a stimulus payment in 2008, if any of the following apply to you:

You don’t file a 2007 tax return.
Your net income tax liability is zero and your qualifying income is less than $3,000. To determine your qualifying income, add together your wages, net self-employment income, nontaxable combat pay, Social Security benefits, certain Railroad Retirement benefits and certain veterans’ payments.
You can be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. For example, this would include a child or student who can be claimed on a parent’s return.
You do not have a valid Social Security Number.
You are a nonresident alien.
You file Form 1040NR or Form 1040NR-EZ, Form 1040PR or Form 1040SS for 2007.
