having a expensive helmet is unnecessary when your only gonna use it several times a year or less. It's not like I own a bike. :D

thats the stupidest thing Ive ever heard dude. SO lets say I wear a cheepy helmet thats not worth a fukk, lets say I ride a bike but i ONLY ride several times a year. That alone tells me your not experienced and more subceptable to a crash just from that fact alone so how can you use that stupid ass excuse to justify buying a cheep helmet? Like I said if your noggin is worth 30 bucks im cool with that dude. :goodjob: You get what you pay for though. I just hope for your sake you dont have to rely on that helmet one day.

Good luck on the helmet you just purchased. A helmet just being DOT approved does not mean anything on a race track. I'm assuming you are going to a drag strip. If so, make sure your helmet meets at least one of the specs mentioned here (http://www.nhra.com/contacts/tech_faq.html). The tech guys especially over at Atlanta Dragway will rummage through the inside of the helmet to look for the proper safety markings. If you've never seen a real helmet before, there are stamps and tags on the inside of the helmet stating what specs the helmet meets. I was just out at Atlanta Dragway earlier and the tech guys got on a guy there who brought a DOT approved helmet.
