ef ignition.....bad

I have a 88 4-door EF 5speed ,,,and i went to crank her up this morning and the lights heater radio ect ect come on but if feels kinda clunky when you turn the key (and you know how the key will push back ,like it spring loaded) well it dosnt do that any more

My question is

#1..can I replace the ingnition and keep the same key

#2..does any body got one they can sell me?

#3..what would one cost at the parts store approxitmatly

Just went through this on my buddies crx. The spring is in the ignition switch and not the key cylinder. The ignition switch and the key cylinder are around 50 a peice from advanced auto. You can take the igniton switch off from the back of the cylinder and determine whether it is the ignition swith or the cylinder.
If you take the column cover off(three screws and a retaining ring) you can access the ignition. he ignition switch is held on with two phillips head 7 mm screws. take them out and remove the ign switch. You should be able to insert a flat head into the switch and crank it up. If that works fine than it is your cylinder.;)

never mind (to the last post) you said the spring loaded part is in the IGNITION and NOT the cylinder.....OK imma take it apart and see whats up,,,seems like the ignitions is going to be bad and not the cylinder,,which works out considering I really don't wont to have two have separate keys for the door and ignition
