So I'm planning to buy a new car and I was looking at this 2006 TSX with A-Spec for $25500 or 2007 Civic Si for $19000. What do you guys think? I know they are totally diff category but which one would you pick if you were financially difficult. good enough to pay for civic si but just too tight to pay for TSX. would you just go for civic si? or find another job to pay for TSX?

if you are tight on money, go for the si. It is a great car.

You tell us nothing. What do you use it for? Will you have other needs in a few years? Think.

If you don't really need a new car, don't spend the money. Just keep your prelude running happy and invest the rest.

ur post sounds like ur not to sure about the TSX. if you know u cant handle th epayments now. dont buy it. U might be satisfied with a 4door Si.. like a minime Tsx.

believe it or not the TSX is slow...0-60mph in 7.8 sec (car and driver)...and it's not exactly the sportiest thing around, I love them don't get me wrong, but when my mazda 3 $21,000 brand new can beat a $26,000+ Acura it makes me laugh...I say go with the civic!!! :D

since when?

so u would take one car cause its 0.2 faster in 0-60 over another car..even if the slower car is way better built? and has way more options

Usually u would be correct...but...
Well if we're talking about my car vs. a TSX...then their actually isn't much differences in options...we both have leather, sunroofs, 6CD changer, power everything, 8 airbags, 5 speed transmissions, hold 5 passengers, FWD, ABS, Xenon projector head lights, heated seats, traction control, stability control, Navi...the list goes on...
And with 45 less Hp than the TSX I can still pull of a 0-60mph .7 secs quicker...and pull off better gas mileage with an engine that doesn't need premium gas...and the MSRP's for a Mazda 3 start at $8,000 less than a new TSX...
I guess if that extra $8,000 is lying around then the only thing it would be paying for would be heated mirrors, 2 more inches of leg room, and a bigger gas tank...and of course the name..."Acura"...is that worth $8,000 to some people?...Maybe
And your statement about quality (if u were refering to my car) I just looked up reliability ratings and the TSX is actually prone to slightly more dealer visits than a Mazda 3...so the research says, but they are both more than above average on reliability...good cars :goodjob:
Some cars are just to impractical...and I think the TSX is one of them...but that's just my 2 cents... :2cents:
Sorry I went on for so long...lol...

trust me im a mazda fanboy:D

and id chose a 3 over any honda.....but i was just talking as awhole...like people think im crazy to want a slower slk55 amg over a z06 for bout the same price....but u are getting so much in the benz compared to a bare bones performance machine

but i love all new mazdas...imo,mazda is doing better than ever in design, and are still pretty underrated

Oh I see, cool...yeah well I guess it's all what the driver is looking for cuz cars at the same price have different characteristics, driving dynamics, engines, etc...
and yes mazda now-a-days has it going on!!!

well...I'm sure performance wise, mazda speed is faster than those TSX and so on but I don't like their exterior design and if i was in for performance, I wouldn't even consider TSX. would I? anyways thanks for your opinion guys

So I'm guessing ur looking for something more...luxury/sport rather than just sport?

Money != Speed, and the Mazda 3 is not even in the same league when it comes to comfort features. The TSX is also an Accord, do you really expect it to go fast?

Go with the civic. If you have to get a second job to pay for your car...that's bad. What if you lose one job? I mean it can happen to anyone - the store could close or your boss could get fired and the new guy could fire you...

Anyway go with the one you know you can make the payments on. You dont wanna end up in such bad straits that your car is repo'd and then you can't find a new job 'cause you can't drive to it.

I wanted luxury car but that's out of my budget so I'm considering new civic si. I'm a full time student and I do'nt want to work more than 20hr+ trying to pay a car payment. thanks for your comment, about time someone makes good comment that really helps. I'm sure Mazda3 is a nice car but I'm more into reliable, good price, comfortable car. Mazda3speed looks like for someone who wants speed and performance. And it is pretty expensive for brand new one so I'll def pass on that

go get a white tsx with A Spec and 6 speed. 2006 model comes standard with Navi. Even though the car only make about 200 but handle pretty good and looks great IMO. The new civic just not the type I want.

Actually I wasn't referring to the Speed3...the normal 3 with the NA 2.3L 4cyl can do 0-60mph in the low 7 secs depending on transmission...the Speed3 can do it in 5.9 secs...but yeah if the 3 is a no then deff go with the civic...but I don't see how u can say that the 3 isn't a luxury car but u think a civic is?...they don't even offer leather seats do they?

they offer leather AND navi. on civics
only offer navi on SI's (most honda dealerships here in GA have some kind of partnership with katzskins (sp?) to do custom leathering)

FYI the MS3 is only a little more expensive than the SI. I think there's someone on here selling it for a pretty good price.

Yeah well MS3's start at $22,975 and that's for a brand new 08'!!!

if price is such a problem then get a used one. you don't need that new car smell.

buy used.

12-27-2007, 06:26 PM
If you really want luxury you could go with used...my boyfriend's 2001 Audi a4 cost within 500 bucks of my 2007 brand new hyundai accent. (that's 12,900ish if you were wondering) So you could go used and get a much nicer luxury car. If you get it from someplace like carmax, you could abate warranty worries with their own warranty.

If you're like me, though, and insist on a new car being really new, you might consider a hyundai. I'd say it offered more bang for the buck, but it's actually sort of different...you can't get more luxury features for the same amount, you get the same luxury features for a smaller amount. Does that make sense? Anyway. If modding the car isn't an immediate necessity, you could go with an Elantra, pay a little less than you would for the civic, and get a bit more car. And you can't beat the warranty. They're trying to make their cars into luxury-esque cars.

To that end, i'm not sure just how much cash you can put into this but there's also the altima coupe, starts at around 20g. You could get sunroof, leather, et cetera on something like that.

the altima is nice. i definitely say find something used before buying brand new. Especially from Honda/Acura stealerships. I learned my lesson from this one, won't happen again.

But yeah, find a good used Audi, BMW, Acura, whatever, and you will wind up better off than the brand new ones. Also when trying to decide, check your insurance rates too. I went from a '97 Prelude to a '06 S2000. Talk about sticker shock!!
