wondering how much can a stock internal y8 take? will be daily driven.

also, is 200whp obtainable? as far as tuning goes, I got that covered.

And last would 330cc be too much? or should I go smaller...

330cc is too small, you need 450cc at the minimum

9-10 psi PROPERLY tuned is about max.

it should make 200whp easily

really? I thought 330cc was good up to 270whp. I was mainly trying to see what it makes with 7psi spring. And also is a fuel pump necessary for the route I'm taking? just looking to obtain 200 or so without a large headache.

your good for about 230whp or so. no more the 245whp. If your motor is healthy and you dont beat on it. It will last a good while.

you want a walbro 255 and 330 can be used, but your duty cycle will be unhealthy for those injectors.
at stock fuel pressures:
240cc=180whp ish (high 100's)
310cc=210whp ish (low 200's)
330cc=220whp ish (low 200's)
450cc=275whp ish (high 200's)

duty cycles will be pretty high especially if your fuel system/electrical is in anyway compromised. you can stretch smaller injectors by upping the fuel pressure, but when you figure the cost of buying an adj fpr and pressure gauge you could've done the right way by buying new injectors.

200 tuned daily on a y8 is no problem depending on turbo.

so instead of getting a fuel pump just get 450cc? And more than likely the turbo will be a T25/T28.

you need a fuel pump too

well here's what I have so far, and I'm planning on doing this right the first time around so I don't have to fix any mistakes. This will be my 3rd turbo project.

I have all the pipings and fmic, drag manifold, wastegate, return line, missing link (don't want to use a fmu).

And is a T25 able to obtain good power?

if you are going with the 450cc injectors, you will need to get the ecu chipped and when you do that they will make it where the map sensor can read boost and you wont need the missing link... the t25 is an alrite turbo that makes good midrange rpm power... but at high rpms it sucks ass... just make sure you get it tuned whichever route you decide...

agreed.

to recap:
fuel pump
450cc
fmic
NO MISSING LINK
chipped ecu/tuning

t25 will be good low and midrange, but will fall off and not make as much peak power. t3 super 60 will spool a little later and make upper mid range and better peak power. those 2 turbo are reasonably priced. there are others that may be better if you want to spend the $$. if you go used t25, be careful. i've seen some used t25 that are pretty much worn out. after a rebuild you could've bought something better.

I already have a hondata s200b so as far as ecu chipping goes that won't be needed. The reason I chose the missing link is because of my timing and schedule (I will need to make time to get it tuned).

scotty - I thought that going with a smaller turbo would be better but I would rather make more power from mid-high range. So what recommendations would you have besides a super 60. Would a garrett t3 .50 trim be applicable?

Pretty much any moderate T3 turbo will do.

You can get a basemap for your ECU that you can drive on so you dont have ot have a missing link

T3's on d series will usually start making boost at around 4k, depending on the size/setup, but they will make power all the way to redline unlike the t25... which is good if its your DD because you can save gas when driving under 4k and still have enough rpm for boosting to mess around with (4000-7500)... so that's the turbo i would recommend...

Ok, so I just got my snail and its internally wastegated. Here's the problem, my manifold is made for a external wastegate, which I have already (tial), so should I just go ahead and sell the turbo and get a T3?

Vteckidd
12-11-2007, 07:54 PM
either sell it , or buy a block off plate for the external wastegate on te manifold
