Building a Honda kart

Hey guys... I trying to build a kart using engine and auto tranny out of a 93 Civic. I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible and easy as possible. I need help with the wiring right now. I'm not sure what I need to keep and what I need to cut away so the engine will start. Thanks for all your help. I don't even mind paying someone afterward for helping me get this thing running. Thanks again.....

i would think you would even have to go as far as a gauge cluster. beacause i know my cb7 wont start without one.

keep the ecu and the gauge cluster, all the sensors, and any electronics directly related to the motor. make sure not to cut any hoses or wires, just unplug them just in case.

Are you sure that I'll need the gauge cluster? I didn't save that... I'll take some pics... when I make some progress...

I say you save yourself some trouble and go carbureted. Eleminating the EFI will help to keep it simple. I have seen a D series with a carburetor in a kart before. It ran pretty good, but not as good as any of the karts with motorcycle engines....

I took some pics of the harness... My plan is to start from the ECU and end at the engine connectors. I'm not building the chassis I'm just doing the wiring. I'll post some pics when the chassis is built.

Again... I'm trying to get the engine running make everything as simple as possible. Thanks for all your inputs.

motorcycle engine is way easier, and you can still go w/ Honda if your dead set on it. I know, I built a nasty go-kart about 5 years ago

ok.. changing plans... instead of building a kart.. this will be a 4 wheel drive buggy for 1 6 year old...

Why use the auto tranny? Get a manual wire harness and run the engine direct-drive to the rear axle via a chain or belt. you will still need some kind of clutch. I would dis-assemble a manual tranny and use the bellhousing, input shaft and bearings and weld a gear onto the input-shaft and use the bearings to support it in the frame. Then you have a clutch to use without the weight of a tranny.
