i personally like 240s better, they are easier to work on and more parts are available.

Depends on what someone wants in a car.

I like them both.

I say Z, not as common as a 240, and looks sportier. But yeah it matters what the car is for.

exactly

300zx = highway cruiser, grand tourer, drag car. pretty fast, hard to work on. never drove one so i cant give more

240sx = parts are very common, easy to work on, your standard issue light rwd car. turns pretty well and you dont need to man handle the steering wheel, upgrades are plentyful, less expensive. but wont be as straightline fast as a 300zx turbo. but you can always get a turboed 240sx.

Owned em both multiple times. Good times in my S chassis cars, but the Z wins it in the end...

Z is heavy and cost a good penny for parts but a 240 is so common now but its cool just means more parts at good prices i like 240s

:gay: :gay:yeah you're right, 500hp in a stock engine with double the torque of a 300zx TT is pretty gay...all in a package that weigh 100lbs less than the VG30DETT.

id pick the Z only b/c they still have the "cool" car factor.. and still fairly uncommon

If for some reason you go for the 300zx, go with the twin turbo one. The NA one is slow as balls. And I voted.

Spektrewing386
10-27-2007, 11:07 PM
if if your refering to the z31.... you can get a turbo one, but i think z31 are kinda ugly, but they are fast and handle decent

Do the best of both worlds and get a 240z :goodjob: So much more of a wrothwile car IMO. Much more stylish than the above mentioned 2.

depends on what you want to do with it.

and word of advice, if you cant see the turbos, more than likely, its gonna be a ***** to fix.

the curves.

if you can get one with a nice body and dont care about engine condition, then swap in a nice motor using the money you saved from buying a shell/crappy engine.

You must have seen a 2+2. They are visably longer than the 2-seater by a half-a-foot.

Oh, I didn't know there was a difference in length for the 2+2. It looked a lot like the one in your sig...red with a tall rear spoiler. Hah, you weren't on 85 around seven-ish were you?

Not my neck of the woods. The physical difference is real subtle, put a 2+2 next to a 2 seater and it becomes obvious.

There's a white 300ZX that I see on campus every day, and I could definitely tell that the red one looked longer. It looked sort of awkward actually.

I really like the third-gen 300ZX.

I miss pop-up lights.

For whoever says 300zx with LS7, go and try a run to a 240sx with LS7 and see which is faster.

Getting back to the topic. Stock to stock, most people stay away from TT due to maintain cost. There are more than just the engine like electrics, Super hicas, etc. But off the floor it is a better car to drive around daily. 240sx, on the other hand, is a good chassis fit with a slow "stock" motor. Is it really slow? Of course not, but sure it ain't fast. But if you are looking forward to perfect the two cars in terms of performance, the S-chassis car will win because of the parts available to the market. Power upgrade is really easy. KA-T, SR, RB, VG, VQ, and now the VH from the Nissan family have been proven to make massive power for the S13 and S14. The JZ family from Toyota, LS family from Chevy, etc have done the same also.

Let's not forget since a lot of Nissan part are interchangeable, some z32 parts are consider upgrades for the S-chassis such as some suspension parts, fuel filter, diff, axles, 5 lugs hubs, brakes, etc.

If you want to look like this:

http://legalectric.org/f/legacy/Herd_of_Sheep_311px.gif

Get a 240.

If you want to be different and have a nicer looking car, get the 300ZX. But after reading your posts, the last thing you need to worry about is a car. Focus on school more. Especially language arts. Later, QD.

I am pretty positive there are no more than six Z32 300zx's with corvette engines in the country, maybe as low as 4. Even the SR20 has been proven to be a great engine in them...moderately built w/ 400-500+hp, much lighter than the VG30 and with a conversion plate you can keep the much stronger 300zx transmission.

Are you really short or really tall?I wasn't talking about my height

This question really depends on if you know how to do your own major car work and how much money you have. My friends dream car was a 300 and once he had it for a good 3yrs he admitted it was his most expensive mistake. Now he has a S13 and an integra gsr

I voted 300zx. Has been my favorite looking car since I don't know when lol. 1990s and ^.

1980s was alright :) I'd rock one for the right price lol.

Now if you're saying like 300zx TT ... then HELL ya. Now if only I can get my hands on a 300zx TT 5spd conv....yes I'd be in heaven! Very very hard to find. Usually they're built to be that way and not factory.

LoL that's why I'd have to be in heaven to have one. I know re-doing an auto n/a conv will be a BISH! n/a 300zx's don't have any room already let alone doing TT and switching out the tranny lol.

Once I hit it big though, I'll do it. :goodjob:

the VG is a terrible motor. Quite possibly one of the hardest motors to work on, and one of the most problematic. I suggest you get a 240 with an SR swap. Its definately bandwagon, but for a reason. SR parts are abundant, the motor itself is extremely light, and with a simple mod, like rocker arm stoppers, you can easily handle 400whp on stock internals. Sammy from Tiger Racing swapped an SR into his R32. The S13 and s14 chassis themselves are run of the mill, but thats the price you pay. Its the RWD civic. Not only is it the best budget drift car, its such a fun car to drive. Be expected to be harassed by grand am owners though, they tend to not like them. Oh and Civic owners will ***** and moan because its a bandwagon car. <--- I find that ironic lol. As if an EG hatch with a B series swap isnt? :screwy:

But I love Z's and if you have money, or a lot of time to work on them, then go for the Z, they are more rare, and a Z definately holds a name. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Good luck and let me know how it goes. It's a great engine with tons of potential but maintaining and repairing it is really expensive. Unless you've built an empire around the Z32 like Russell (mentioned above) and have done it hundreds of times it's a difficult car to work on even for an experienced mechanic.

I think 300zx are ok, but never think they look good.
240sx look good, and when it comes to modifying they are cheaper and looks a lot better.
That is why people pick 240's right?

definitley get a 300zx twinturbo, and has to be a Z32. There not hard at all to work on them, ive had 2 and with very little previous mechanical knowledge ive basically taken this car apart and put back together. And yes it did run after i did it :).
