So those pistons can only handle up too 18 psi?

SDBCIVIC

im sure the pistons will hold more but i guess the rating is on the rings. the guy said i could boost 18psi no prob with this set-up.

i think 'the guy' is a moron. 18psi on different turbos will amount to different cylinder pressures. the 18psi rating doesnt mean ****.

kool....... Although if you have a boost guage then 18 psi = 18 psi no matter what your using....right?

haha no, 18 psi on a td05 will be very different than 18psi on a gt30 turbo. its more of a power/pressure thing. what type of piston rings did the guy put in there? NPR?

Im not sure of the rings he used but Ill try and find out.

could someone tell me how 18lbs per square inch is not equal to 18 lbs per square inch? I understand that different turbos put out different cfm(cubic feet per minute), that is the air flow at which the turbo moves air. pressure is built up in the system and the wastegate with a 10lb spring in it exhausts anything over 10lbs right? the spring works off of pressure so if the turbos are different the boost time will vary but the amount of boost going into the engine should never be over 10 psi.

please give me a better explination of your theory than "its a power/pressure thing".

Man i want this! So why are you selling? How much boost did you give it? How long did you run it? Gemme all the details? Oil used? Brokin in? Who built it?

Who assembled it ?

I had a guy assemble it for me but he had a machine shop (not sure who) go thru it and check everything out before he assembled it.

the price is negotiable and will consider partial trades.

Doesn't matter b/c a solid tune at 15psi is all I'd throw at an unsleeved B16 anyway - esp if u want it to live long. BUMP

Just to help you out:

I built my B16a block with SRP 9.9:1 pistons and crower rods, and ACL rod bearings. I'm guessing the rings in my setup are SRP or JE since they are affiliated. I boosted my setup (Greddy kit) to 15psi and rapped it everyday until I took it off at ~18K miles. It still runs and doesn't burn oil. I also had the engine broken in on the Dyno. Good luck with the sale.

ps...I miss boost
