i never noticed. me personally woulda colormatched the inside. but thats just me.

We did it for 3 reasons:

1) Our entire car used to be that color. We actually loved the color on the Audi TT (Aviator Gray it's called) and we always said one day we would paint one of ours that color.

It just turned out that it made the engine bay look very clean, so even when we changed the color of the car...we kept the gray color for the engine bay and interior. Come to find out later on, this is something a lot of big race teams do. We had no idea originally when we chose to do it.

2) Single stage paint is also a lot easier to use than the triple stage candy that will be used on the exterior.

3) The gray is an enamel, which is more industrial than the candy paint that will go on the outside. It will stand up better to working in the engine bay and stepping on it in the interior than the candy paint would.

Remember this is the FIRST COAT, there were 2 more coats applied then a clear. I dont have pics of that yet because its still drying.

2jz isn't the most efficient for what we do with the car. We have to keep it the same for SEMA since we have contracts with certain companies regarding their parts until January. Next year they will have Ls2 engines or Ls7's if Santa notices how nice we were this year.

Plus, Dan has an event (and Tracy) the week AFTER SEMA for Formula D. The last thing you want to do to a driver, is change the setup of the car COMPLETELY and give him no time to test it out.

If im not completely retarded, I believe its the side skirts and such. The kit was painted on the car... and if pieces are taken off to put the car on the lift or to finish things up, primer will show.

its amazing how the pick of the interior looks like the interior is in black and white but then the contrast of this bright ass florida gator orange is on the outside. the simple things make cars look so much better and the fact you guys didnt put the orange in the interior make this car look so much better and catchy. honestly if i had to have a car built in 3 weeks and unlimited funds to batlground it would come. you guys simply are for lack of better words amazing. keep up the good work and i hope you pick up a **** load of sponsors in vegas. and hopefuly konig will get you guys a fat ass steak so you can all give yours to dan and make his ass eat them.

its amazing how the pick of the interior looks like the interior is in black and white but then the contrast of this bright ass florida gator orange is on the outside. the simple things make cars look so much better and the fact you guys didnt put the orange in the interior make this car look so much better and catchy. honestly if i had to have a car built in 3 weeks and unlimited funds to batlground it would come. you guys simply are for lack of better words amazing. keep up the good work and i hope you pick up a **** load of sponsors in vegas. and hopefuly konig will get you guys a fat ass steak so you can all give yours to dan and make his ass eat them.

The red on the seats is still bugging me and looking to see what can be done about it...replacing it with black suede is not an option due to time and amount of work. I've used the fabric paint before but looking into the dyes specifically for suede...

I'd love to see a sheet of carbon fiber overlayed on the aluminum interior pieces, a perfect compliment to black suede :yumyum:

I think it's understood that it's a "race car/drift car" whatever the heck you want to call it. Some items only come in 1 color and you don't have a choice about it....like Takata, it's a gangster company to be sponsored by. Everyone knows their stuff is green only, so it's overlooked that it doesn't "match". It's not a show car. It has lots of purpose other than showing it's butt :D

I can actually say I worked on about 5 SEMA cars over the past couple years. I work on 2 when I was at Mahdavi. And I helped out on 3 w/ the AAP guys. Believe me when I say I know exactly how you feel w/ all the long, sleepless nights. The ****ty part is I've never been to SEMA. I'll either never go or I'll have to go on my own dime even though I've done enough work on SEMA cars where I should be able to go for free or cheap!!

My bed hasn't felt that good in a longgg time! Dan and I didn't go to sleep at all Wed. night and out of 72 hours i got a total of 2.5hrs sleep...I passed out trying to reply to this thread last night :tongue:

50% of The Batlground crew left today and the second part of the journey began, the 2 day drive to VEGAS.

Myself and Brandon opted to stay behind to keep the shop up and running since we have so much stuff to get done, and its a busy time for us. WE have several tuning and motor swap appts so we opted to take care of those.

Stay tuned as tuesday we will post full pics of the car and interior, and Tracy and Dan and MikeSpeed will start their own thread covering SEMA for you and showing you whats hot and what its like for a shop to go to SEMA looking for next years sponsors, and what it takes to make it in this industry.

Lots more info to come, lots more pics, lots more long nights. We havent even started the V8 swaps yet :)

Polishing a pipe sounds so simple but it had so many scratches in it. It was hard to polish out all the scratches. The car looks so awesome in person. Pictures just don't do it justice.

The car looks good except for that damned exhaust! it looks stupid, plus if you get tapped you risk having the entire exhaust bent or putting pressure on the turbo/manifold and cracking it. otherwise nice job!
