Sounds like you want to push your limits - where you are now is safe!

You just want someone to post 14psi don't you?

I bet your B18b1 engine has over 150k on it right?

build it before you break it!

Good advice, but not quite as fun as romping on it one time and hearing 'ping ping ping ping BOOM'

Seriously, if it's tuned for where you're at now, don't mess with it.

psi really doesnt mean anything. a stock ls is reliable up to about 250whp. you can definitely push a lot more, but not reliably. on a 57 trim turbo, 250whp is about 10psi. just make sure to re tune if you up the boost. DO NOT UP THE BOOST AND NOT GET A RE TUNE

I didn't see anyone bashing you. You were actually kind of unclear in your OP...you made it seem like you wanted to turn the boost up without a retune. You didn't ask what the MAXIMUM your LS would hold.

Either way, glad you got the info you were looking for.

OP edited to say with retune sorry if i was unclear befor

id say go with the arp head studs and you would be fairly safe
the main problem i see with peoples boosted stock ls's are lifting the head due to stock head bolts.

helcat17
10-03-2007, 08:56 PM
thanks nag2i but what psi have you seen the head lifting hapening at?

EmminoDaGreat

I wouldnt do more than 10psi as it sits. The b-series weak ringlands would probably break before the head would lift.

i think im gona aim around 9-10 psi and i have a 57 trim but im going to change the head studs anyway and allsoo the head gasket since im going to be in there if anyone has an idea on a good gasket let me know thanks everyone

y dont u just build it instead of turning da boost up... makes no sense taking da head off for some headstuds and head gasket... **** u got it apart that far u might ass well go for it...

lol cause i dont got a grand to throw down on it at this time for internals i colect parts piece by piece then when i get it all together i take a weekend and put it all on or in lol but if your wanting to pay for it im taking offers :)

i used cp pistons in my build; so thats what i would go with. also, there is no need to lower the compression. stick with stock or around 9:1. oh and go with a oem head gasket. if you bore it out, then get a golden eagle; they use stock honda ones and modify the bore.

I wouldnt change a thing except the map sensor and a 10lb
spring for your wg. B18bs are a dime a dozen. Just build a
spare block and you have no downtime. just my 2cents.

Although there are a lot of "claimed" 300 WHP B18A/B (LS), I don't remember seeing anyone locally with a 300 or even high 200 WHP Turbo-LS driving around ... reliably.

wat size turbo..??

but thought i let ya know on my scenario.. i was on a little itty bitty turbo with a VW t25 turbo.. and i maxx'd it out @ 13lbs all stock internal, nothing aftermarket on it .. and i daily drive it :) ............... from cobb2gwineett everything day .. i only dawg on it a once/twice, no problem i'd say.. depending on ur turbo .. if it's small one dawg it mann your not going to hurt it.. unless your a bigg baller t3/t4 or higher.. leave it be..

@$@$@$@$ the car importmyth01 drove made high 200's and has had about 9 owners beat on it since him and still runs 12's easily. It even seen some 18psi momments. And some dude just sold a del sol that had been boosting 20psi for like two years on the stock motor.
