Why? Did the blow the last motor, and could'nt afford another bmw motor?

^something tells me that a 2jz swap in a bimmer is going to cost more than just replacing the factory motor

Eh, that 2JZ is a whole hell of a lot easier and cheaper to make 800whp with than the motor that came out of it. The ///M5 V8 would have made 1100whp or so but It'd be so damn expensive and a pain to work on.

^your right i don't but at the same time consider this...........it costs what 10k to do the 240 2jz swap and thats a much simpler car to deal with than a bimmer what do you think it costs to put in a factory bmw motor again i am willing to bet its less

That's terrible, I'll never get why people like to put crazy different motors in cars they don't belong in. But props to those who do it and get it right anyway.

There was a 2jz Mercedes in Japan, comparable to that one you have up there.

$10k????
yes sir go into mainstreams section of IA and it says done out the door price on a s14 is 10k. now can you see why i say its probably a **** ton more on a m5 if thats truly what it is and how its probably less expensive to just put in a new motr instead of...........engineering motor mounts, trying to figure out how to make all the stock stuff work with the new motor and ecu, etc, etc, etc.

x2....as hard to belive i respect that less than the V8 swaps into RX-7s

Even if the swapped was super clean, it seems way to inconsistent.
Class issue I guess.

umm ok, mainstream may charge 10k for a ****ing 2jz swap but do it yourself and dont be a panzy... alot cheaper

x2....as hard to belive i respect that less than the V8 swaps into RX-7s how can you argue with one of the most legendary motors mixed with one of the best handling chassis ever made? the vette motor is way stronger, lighter and 10x more reliable than a boosted rotary. I love rotarys but they are delicate as hell.

because the reason its the best handling chassis is because when they put the motor in its all part of the equation of weight distribution and handling. so when you take out the motor and put in a different motor it ****s with the whole balence of the car granted i believe that most sr swapped miatas actually help the weight distribution i highly doubt pulling a V8 and dropping a straight 6 is going to help the chassis balence

So your telling me your comfortable pulling out a Bmw motor and dropping in a 2JZ engineering and fabricating the engine and transmission mounts and then on top of all this figuring out a way to make the motor run without losing all the bmw options?

I guess the haters in here have never looked at how much BMWs cost to mod. Most aftermarket turbo or supercharger kits are all ~$10K. Granted they are all engineered to look completely OEM when the hood is popped open you're still stuck with an NA base motor.
Why not spend the money on a better factory turbocharged motor with much more potential and just swap in a 2JZ or RB?

QUOTE]I'm talking about weight. the all aluminium chevy 350 is lighter than all of the plumbing and turbo+motor associated with the rotary. You have got to know that the less weight you are push/pulling around, the better the car will handle. the chevy has 3x the torque of a rotary and you are pushing a lighter car.
