You know whats sad? The car has about 200 more horsepower than the veyron, and it weighs close to 2000 lbs less, yet is only 4 mph faster. Thats where the engineering of the veyron really shines.

200 more HP, 2,000lbs less, 1,000,000x better looking than the Veyron.

saw this coming! the veyron still reigns because of engineering its just better, thats why its such a big deal,

200 more HP, 2,000lbs less, 1,000,000x better looking than the Veyron.Looks are subjective, performance figures are fact. To have such a small disparity in performance vs such high power and weight differences is a testament to the Veyron's engineering, which should be highly respected. Personally, I think the veyron looks dope, and the interior is flat out gorgeous. Anyone can go and make what basically amounts to a kit car that puts out silly ass numbers like these, but too pull it off in such an amazing overall package like the veyron isn't an easy task.

That's why you have half a million dollars left over to customize it however you'd like.

4 MPH doesnt sound to much faster at all and it really isnt but when they are going at speeds over 200 MPH its hard to overcome all of the drag and air resistance so they engineered a better car more aerodynamicly really

Untrue, this is a huge feat both from an aerodynamics and a horsepower standpoint. 4mph is quite significant. Weight has nothing to do with top speed, just acceleration. The only things that matter are power and CoD. So, once again, this is an enormous feat especially considering the budget comparisons. And the 0-60, it's barely slower and the Veyron has AWD.

At 250MPH 4 mph is significant. Watch the veyron top speed run... the acceleration almost comes to a crawl at the top end!

Let me know the next time you're driving 250mph and you need that extra 4mph to do what you set out to accomplish.

Keep your 4mph and I'll keep the $500,000.00++.

Even getting 1 mph faster is impressive at such a high speed. You have to realize the amount of power it takes to overcome the drag at that speed. For example, it takes about 500 hp to overcome the drag at 185 mph...so if you've got a 510 hp car doing 185...you've only got 10 hp left over to propel the car any further.

Anyway...kudos to SSC, but I think the car looks terrible. I'm also curious as to how composed the SSC feels at it's top speed. That is where the engineering of the Veyron shines. I want to do a top speed run in a Veyron before I die.

I bet the SSC sounds wicked though.

You also need frontal area so that you can use the cD to find the total amount of drag.

Yes, true. However, this is what wind tunnels are for (i've watched the one a Ga Tech run before, cool as shit)

But you also have to remember that the Cd and Cl both matter here.

What about the Melling Hellcat?

Engine: 6.0 litre v10
Induction: 4 turbos
Intake Cooling: 2 intercoolers
Power: 1175 bhp
Torque: 880 lb•ft

Performance
The predicted performance figures for the Melling Hellcat are:
Top speed:275 mph (443 km/h)
Power:1175hp

It has also been given a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds

Also was this car tested to see if it could actually reach that 4mph faster?

ummm...you guys talk about it having 200 extra horsepower

the veyron has a f'n w16...this is a v8...i think the engineering is better for this one than the veyron apparently. Gotta remember it weighs so much less because it has half the motor in it:screwy:

Veyron is more REFINED - you can't argue engineering b/c any car that can do that is very well engineered. The Veyron IS more refined as a complete vehicle.

Also, they weren't just going for "the fastest" car. They wanted to fastest, quickest, most luxurious :blah:

Apparently, the Bugatti is very easy to live with despite having 1000 bhp. Like I said earlier...that is where the engineering of the Bugatti prevails.

A mouth on the bottom of the steering column that blows you while driving would impress me. I always though that would be an interesting option.

To be honest if you drive a Jetta, Accord, and Altima back to back the Jetta will stand out hands down as the better driving car. I worked on and around these cars long enough to never want to buy another one. I owned an 07 Jetta for a few months till it got smashed between two trucks. I liked driving it but it had more problems in the few months I owned in than any of the 8 different Nissans I have owned or the 3 my parents have owned. In my opinion and experience the best VW to buy is the new GTI.

Cool car.

Front looks like an Ascari A10 and the rear looks like a CCR.

From what I've been reading about the car, the car did not reach its full potential quite yet. It was tested on a public road guys, not some 10mile long straight or so.
