View Full Version : Airplane tickets
Ok I will be buying a plane ticket so I can go back to San Jose, California. I didn't have the cash to buy the ticket and I had to keep waiting to buy it. Last week I would check the ticket price everyday to see if it would go up or down. Well the ticket went from $419, $430. $440, then $450. I check the ticket price on Sunday and the price had dropped to $440. Today the ticket price dropped to $420. Do any of you guys think the tickets would drop down any lower than it is right now or should I just go and buy them right now?

I did the same thing buying a ticket to Miami and finally bought it about 3 weeks before I was going, it's hit or miss though.. I think I got my ticket for $319 and a week later the other people that I was going with that waited till last minute paid over $500. You have to take into consideration the time of year, is it peak vacation season or a holiday weekend that you are going, ect.. If you have days that you can work with, tickets will be cheaper flying out certain days of the week also, there is an option when searching for flights where you can check fares around your date or for cheapest fares around when you are flying...

I was reading somewhere and it said to call like on Mon-Wed right at midnight or right after midnight and call them to see if they have anything. The reason for this is that at midnight is when cancellations process in the system. So if someone cancels their flight at 5pm today, it won't post on their system until midnight. I haven't tried it myself, but give it a shot.

kinda like stand-by. u go to the airport, tell the girl at the check-in desk that ur doing stand-by, then u have to wait till like 15 min before the flight leaves and if anybody doesnt show up, u can take their spot for like 25% of the price of a ticket. not all airlines do it though, if everybody does show up, then u just wasted ur time lol. my dad used to do it sometimes.

Theres nomore standby unless you have family working there or you bought a ticket and miss your flight and you need to standby... theres no such thing as going in and trying to buy a ticket up front.. tried that and got embarrassed..

oh ok nevermind then lol
The reason I was asking this question was back in April when I was last in San Jose. I had purchased the tickets from Frontier round trip for $314.00 and I would check if the prices changed as the time went on. A week before I left for San Jose the prices dropped down to $274. I was kinda pissed because I bought my tickets ahead of time but a week before my trip they dropped 40$ and I thought that was kinda fucked up.
