Well today I bought me a new car...Or new to me. A 1996 GMC Sierra regular cab Z71 4X4 on a 4 inch suspension lift and 3 inch body lift. A 5.7 350 vortec v8 on a set of 35 inch BFGoodrich all terains. The body lift is done real clean with diamond plate covering any gaps and it is a Rancho lift. I am putting my CB in tomorrow if I dont have to work.

Now to the sad part...I am getting rid of the Z. I always have had it for sale but never really thought I would do it. It will be a very sad day and I will probably have a nice tear in my eye. I love my Z like a religous figure. I know it is nothing special but I guess its just a guy and his car ya know. I am going to miss going "fast" but living where I do trucks are trucks. I know more people who mud on the weekends than drive the strip. I guess they kind of got the idea in my head but I like it.

The truck is a nice change. It dosent mean that I wont ever buy another Z again. I think I will just wait till I save up a bit more money and buy the car than the twin turbo's and ALOT of goodies all in the same time frame. Or just a 350z...IDK. But I will miss the car dearly and it wont be the same without it.

Oh and P.S. I sounds pretty good to.

Gas mileage....

I still don't see the fuck up. If it's what he wanted, then that's all there is to it. Gas mileage or not. You have to know he probably took that in consideration. I would have, lolol. Later, QD.

I would say panty-droppingness or mileage or ability to take turns quickly w/o rolling over.

The ability to fill up my 15-17 MPG 300ZX with a 13 gallon gas tank full of $45.00 worth of premium fuel as apposed to my new somewhat big 4x4 with a 23 gallon tank full of $60 worth of regular fuel is great. I think I will be getting around 12 MPG maybe so I think I should break even or come out not so bad.

I have liked going fast but I mean im just suthern born and raised GA boy so I mean a big truck or something was comming sooner or later. I love the truck and the Z. I just thought it was time for a bit of a change. Oh and down here you will find that Big trucks and sports cars drop about the same amount of pantaloones.

thats not to bad. I have 16.5 gallon tank and with 35" tires and 4.10 gears i am est. around 15 mpg. Its just an est. though because there is no way to recalibrate the speedo/odometer on the Jeeps above a 32" tire right now

i don't think you could average 12mpg on the highway going downhill in neutral with a 100 mph tailwind. in that jacked up thing. :lmfao: but hey to each his own. good luck

unless its a really nice sports car that shows that you got money, i'd venture to say that a lifted truck actually gets you more ass.

Girls in the south are suckers for lifted trucks, been to Panama City lately?

Conformist. You should have kept the Z IMO.

I live in the same kinda area right now. All domestics; either trucks, mustangs, or camaros. I feel weird.

Lifted trucks get alot of ass. I always enjoyed that factor. Trucks are also alot more useful. I seriously dont know what i would do without the bed of my truck I carry so much shit on a day to day basis.
Also, I think its a hell of alot more fun racing around in a big truck, blowing the doors off porches, corvettes ect rather in another car. Its just something different. (yes I did say porche and corvette) If you think im kidding line up with the dodge on the highway. Theres a reason its got a Stage 7 sled pulling clutch in it. :D

Nice, post pics. i say its a step up, never been a fan of the Z32, and honestly what are they really good for??? At least you got something you want and if need be, you can pull stumps in back yards or pull other IA'ers cars outta ditches when they crash trying to be MAd tyte drifters! lol...oh and lifted trucks in the south DEFINITELY get you more ass then any early 90's nissan...FACT!

i did the same thing about a month ago. I got rid of my 03 RSX Type S for a white '05 Z71 with the LT package. it's 100x more comfy and practical than my RSX was. AND i get around 17-19 MPG in it. I haven't lifted it or put big tires on yet though, simply because a lift for IFS is rediculously expensive. like 1500-2000 dollars expensive.

thats a bit of an exageration.

a high performance racing tuned truck dropped down like some of those harley f-series or dakotas, etc. are pretty f*n fast.

but you won't see one of the lifted ones going that fast, atleast not corvette fast that is. thing would tip over. the lift is more for offroading or to put some big ass chrome rims on and make the truck mall rated for the vaj

nothing lifted is going to be great at racing

Ok just to clear things up I am not trying to be a conformist. I didnt get the truck because alot of people in the south have them or because it may be a panty dropper or not. I bought the truck because I hang out with alot of truck people that mud ALOT. I was tired of being the one that always needed a ride when they all went mudding. I love the Z dont get me wrong but i was tired of being a passenger when we all went riding. It is also alot more comfortable than the Z. They both have their pro's and cons. I am not abandoning the tuning Street performance world at all this is just something that I have wanted for awhile and I found A crazy deal that I couldnt pass up. When I say good deal I mean if I bought the suspension parts and wheels and tires sperately that are on this truck now, I would have spent about 2/3 of the cash that I spent just buying this whole truck. I do plan on buying another sports car I am just happy driving the truck now. I love the Z and going "fast" and taking turns like I did, it just got kinda old after a year. I felt it was time for something different and I enjoy the change. I actually just got done taking it through a mud pit. As for speed...The 5.7 keeps up with my friends mustang GT better than the 300 lol. And as for panty dropping. I have been going out with my current GF for a little more than 2 years so It really dont matter to me. And I may have pics tomorrow.

Ya I love the Z its just there is too much money needed to get it to where I want it. Im talking a good $6000. I love it I Just need a bit of a change. Racing around is one of my favorite things to do. But mudding is also something I love doing. Just figured Id try something new for awhile. I am 110% sure im comming back to driving fast cars again. Or maybe keep the truck and get a streetbike.

Very few people, especially here, "drive whatever suits their needs".

Then again...everyone has their own definition of their "needs".
