View Full Version : Imus just lost his show

Lucky DAWG

CNBC just dropped him, this is the most ridiculous shit i have ever heard, he made a comment about a team with white and black girls on the team and it gets blown out of preportion when much worse is said everyday.

I can't believe that the news station sunk down to the level of Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton and actually let their bigotry and moronic beliefs get to them. I still hope that Imus can get funding for his ranch out west for all of those kids that have cancer, he really is a good guy who made a dumb comment.

I enjoyed his show too, fuck the people who blew this out of preportion, you should be ashamed for wasting air time and tax dollars, they were about to have a congressional hearing on this or something i heard

they are idiots who say racist things all the time

they hurt the black movement rather then help it, they focus on stupid things like this as publicity stunts to get them in the spotlight rather then focusing on real issues that are hurting african americans

read wut jaime said in the other thread about Imus, he laid it out perfectly

yep x 2

This just shows that the bastards at NBC have no backbone to speak of. It sucks that one comment, reguardsless of what was said, can end a career. No one looks at what good he has done, rather a simple "F'up". Maybe he will find his way over to XM, or maybe even Fox News.

if you say so..............

i do
you don't know what you're talking about man, sorry

i'm gonna quote jamie's comment, hope you don't mine dude

I heard some very interesting things yesterday on the radio and news shows:

Quote:
How come Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are so quick to jump on this issue, but they neglect the much more serious issues affecting the "black community". How about the 50% drop out rate in inner city high schools or how about 80% of people incarcerated in the US are black. How come domestically African Americans have the highest pregnancy rate under the age of 20, highest illegitamacy rate, etc etc etc.

The guy that said this was:
Larry Elder
http://www.ocregister.com/newsimages/commentary/syndicated/Larry.Elder.large.jpg

He makes very good points, why do Sharpton and Jackson try to champion this incident like its the biggest thing since david duke. Why is this issue getting SO MUCH attention, is it REALLY that bad for race relations? is it really as bad as everyone is making it out to seem?

If they are such champions of the black community, where are they on the issues that MATTER like the ones listed above. Surely calling someone a "nappy headed ho" is not in the same league as the SCARY statistics listed above.

How come other people are allowed to get away with MUCH WORSE, like this comment Hilary Clinton made recently:

Isnt this Racist? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1Mq8kOXV_E)

how come that never got any attention? where were people when she made that comment?

I don't see the problem with the firing. If anyone tarnishes the repuation of a company, they usually let those ppl go. Why isnt it not fair that he got fired, if a regular person made that comment publical they would get fired for it. The man has some money and will be picked up by someone else in no time. I thought that was a good business move by firing him

i'm getting even more worked up about this because some lady is on the tv right now talking about how women are really concerned about their hair and its a sensitive issue, get the hell over it. You are ruining a man's career because you want to get on tv and talk about your hair???

al sharpton is on the o'reilly report right now and they just asked him about the issue of high school dropout for african americans in inner city's.

He addressed it for 3 seconds and said they were doing things about it then completely avoided it and continued to talk about don imus.

Al Sharpton likes seeing himself on TV. period.

I think you are wrong there. If Joe Blow would have said that, then no one would have given a shit. Its because he is a public figure that moron, Al Not-to-Sharp, went on a crusade.

BTW, I'm still waiting for an answer to the question about the real problems that face the black community.

1. You say his remarks were not racist.

2. You noticeably and continually take shots at two specific black "leaders" if they are called that, because I dont care for either of them. Yes im black.

3. There were many more other than J.J. and Al S. not only against but fighting that what he said was wrong.

Now lets see the remark was not racist..correct? Nappy headed. Now i wouldnt say a white person saying that is racist its more so........ummm........idiotic? Moronic? More so just simply disrespectful. "Nappy headed" is simply and easily directed towards black people. By him saying that does it make him a racist? No. By him saying it for millions to hear does it make him a racist? No. It simply reveals his lack of character and respect for a different cultural background. Ignorance.....so i guess that makes him a nigger? Correct?

The actions and publicity that have arisen from this small act of ignorance I believe are unfair and unnecessary. Of course the word would have gotten out about what he said and eventually he would pay in one way or another for his actions. People make mistakes, shit happens. He simply could have been trying to maybe be funny and didnt realize how much of an impact saying what he said would have? I dunno. So what is it, does he not care about or respect others? Or did he just not know what he was saying was wrong? No one knows but him. So in that respect all you can do is let him go on and be. If you dont like what he said dont support him. Simple as that.

Because it brings attention onto them. More attention equals more money for their "non-profit" agency.

"Oh look, Al is at it again sticking up for them nappy ass hos. Let's send him more money".

If a black radio personality would have called them nappy headed hos would we be having this conversation?

If you read my posts you'd see I said nothing about racism and everything about being offensive. If you have advertisers on your show who pride their company on the diversity of their employees and their customer base then a really really dumb move would be to go out and offend those people. Was it racist? No Stupid? Absolutely and as I said before he is finding that out the hard way.

What he said may not have been racist in intent, but it still singled out a particular feature that is mostly specific to the Black race.

But did he single out blacks in particular? There were white girls there too.:lmfao:

#1. To all that are saying Sharpton and Jackson are not leaders:
A. Name some real leaders then.
B. Quit justifying their dumbass moves. The more you justify their moves and approve of what they do, the more it makes you look as stupid as them.

#2. How fair would you feel if I came in to YOUR work and told YOUR boss that something you said outloud was offensive to me and he FIRED YOU?

#3. Look up the definition of RACIST. Better yet, I'll do it and you just read it:

rac·ism /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[rey-siz-uhm] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

#4. Please someone, anyone.......show me where in the DEFINITION of RACISM does even mention that it is the reference to hair or to a certain race's hair or to making a stupid comment. Where? Someone please point it out. You can't, because it doesn't exist. Therefore, the comment was NOT racist. Stupid and thoughtless and crass, absolutely.

#5. Walk over to the mirror and look into it. Please tell me with a straight face and being honest that YOU have never said something that the second it rolled off your tongue you wished you could suck it back into your mouth. If you can, then you can certainly make a big deal about some has-been making a stupid comment. If you can't, then you should understand his position.

#6. Noone is condoning what the tard said. Most people just merely think it was blown out of proportion and used as something that it wasn't. All the excuses being thrown around still come right back to the same point: this should never have been made into a big racist media circus, period. Why can't we all, black/white/brown/green/blue, simply call a racist a racist? Why do people think that because you are Black you CAN'T be a racist? Some of the biggest racists are indeed BLACK.

#7. It is ignorant to say that something is wrong when one person says it and right when another says it with the only difference being the color of their skin. That is RACIST. SEE THE DEFINITION ABOVE if you don't understand that concept. I am so tired of hearing the same old lame excuses. Be men, be leaders, be examples, be positive role models and call jackasses by their name.....jackasses.

#8. The reality is that racism will never truly go away. You know why? See #1-#7 above. Just when you make a little head way we all end seeing Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson or any other racist being plastered all over the TV and the "millions" of believers right behind them cheering them on. The day that everyone stops all this political correctness gayness and stop tip toeing around the TRUTH is the day that humanity will move forward. Until then....we'll all be stuck in the same rut that has been around since the beginning of time.

Because I know what it really feels like.

To me it seems like you're saying that minorities don't know what it feels like to be hated? I'm sure that can't be so.

Most "minorities" don't, since they are no longer really minorities anyways. White people are becoming the minority now. I just happened to get a jump start on it because of where I lived.

One would think that the majority of people of color OTW (other than white) went to schools that were a majority OTW or atleast close to half.

True, but MLK is unfortunately no longer around. I'm willing to bet that if he were the Jesse's and Al's of the world wouldn't exist.

Al S. and Jesse J. are puppets, politicos of the media if I may say so myself. If you take these 2 out the picture I believe Imus would still be fired.

Imus is a shock jock but I believe he still had some boundaries that were definitely crossed w/ him and his partner' comments. We all have limitations in what we can do and say at work. He met his limitation and was let go for that. At my job there have actually been a couple employees let go after making jokes toward another race and the person being joked upon was not the one that called HR. The person being joked upon thought it was funny and went along his merry way. It was a bystander of the white race that felt it was wrong for them to joke on a Persian Muslim. What Imus said was not a depiction of what MSNBC wants to represent so they let him go.

Now was his comment racist-that's borderline. It will always be a good debate. What it was-totally sexist! The problem w/ this whole discussion is that we are bringing too many outside influences of this matter into the conflict. It is a very well written debate w/ little whoring but I still think there si too much bias being thrown around.

No one has stated the opinions of the Rutger's players nor the rally at the campus.

We as Americans always cry this freedom of speech bullshit. There are limitations to everything. That's why our forefathers set up the Constitution to be ratified and as broad as possible. Remember we all go out and vote for a President but 99.9% aren't part of the Electoral College-so it aint really meaning shit. That's there to protect ourselves from our uneducated selves.

Professor X
04-11-2007, 11:54 PM
I believe that the largest problem is the attempt to generalize a person or group of people by their race. I have said it before and I will say it again; it is wrong for anyone to be racist, sexist or make racist, sexist remarks. I could care less how many black people you hear call themselves the n-word. That means nothing about black people. How many honda guys have you seen call their cars fast and run 16.0 in the 1/4 mile. So are you gonna generalize all honda guys into that way of thinking. Better yet, Peter's car is gold so all gold Integra's with intercoolers are fast and make 800+whp. I don't know how many of you work in coporate america but you can be fired for having a calender of women if SOMEONE finds it offensive and files sexual harassment. That means, anyone can be fired for offendng someone. Moral of the story; watch what you say and do. But CNN isn't reporting on that therefore it isn't news .

Al S. and Jesse J. are puppets, politicos of the media if I may say so myself.

Look at my boy Jerel trying to sound all smart and stuff. :D

You do remember that I KNOW you, right?...... :lmfao:

JP, but you still wrong...... :taun:

Let's keep it real. What he said was stupid, but it wasn't racist and it wasn't enough to lose his job over. The only reason he lost his job was that the two race pimps beat on their drums loud enough to make a lot of the advertisers worry. If they don't do something, they will be perceived as racist. So from a business point of view, it would be stupid NOT to threaten to pull your ads. It's free advertising and a feather in your cap even if it didn't upset you all that much.

Bottomline is that he got fired over a double standard. If he was Black, he would still have a job today. Since he's an old white guy, he gets to lose his job and forever be linked as a racist. How's that fair? It's not. It's a double standard. Look at Charles Barkley, Spike Lee, Kanye West, and the rest of the Black entertainment industry. They constantly either subtly or very directly say derrogatory things about other races, yet noone has ever boycotted them or made a huge media frenzy enough for one of them to lose a job over. They say and do things 100x's worse than just uttering "nappy ho's", yet they grace the front of magazines, sell millions of records, and are filthy rich. Why the double standard?

If you're stupid, you're stupid....not white stupid or black stupid.....just stupid. Point is that when you advertise yourself as "do as I say, not as I do" then don't be surprised when that logic backfires on you.

I'm still proud of you for putting a very coherent, all be it wrong :D , post. That's my boy Jerel...... :goodjob: :D

While I may have played a dumb puppet at Mahdavi-I am very far from that. Remember I did go to Clemson for 2 years w/ a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Political Science.

If I didn't have such a harsh(yes harsh) love for cars I'd definitely gone Political Science as my major at NYU.

Jaime whether it be a double standard or not I guarantee you-IT WAS WRONG IN MORE LIGHTS THAN RIGHT. Just because we are in a world where sex, drugs, violence, racism, sexism, and lack of values rule-does it make it right?

Charles Barkley, Kanye West, and Spike Lee are stars because of the boisterous things they say and do. They are not stars because of eloquence and ethics. The people that pay for their fame pay them to be general asswholes through and through. CNBC/MSNBC paid Imus to be an asswhole but WITH BOUNDARIES AND LIMITATIONS.

My point is not whether it was raciest or sexist because I'm biased and I don't run those corporations. But I guarantee you that there are very strong guidelines in his contract or the employee handbook that limit his freedom of speech. I know my employee handbook limits alot more than speech. Shit at my last job I didn't have an employee handbook but there was a lot more that was limited-not just speech and opinion. Most people know their boundaries when at work. I guarantee you he knew what he could and couldn't say. Whether it was a mistake or planned-it cost him his job. There are plenty of people in this world that lost their career because of a mistake or bad comment that wasn't excused. His was just brought out in the open.

Like Howard Stern he'll definitely get picked up by another station w/ looser values and restrictions and probably get a longer contract w/ more money.

How do you figure I am supporting them? I said before they were sucked into mainstream and greed, they did do good/great acts. NOW, they both are in it for who knows what reason. I was agreeing with 90% of what you were saying man!

Al is smart, get over it. Is he using it in the best manner, NO; I got over that!

In the last decade I question alot of their decisions, probably further back than that. Back in the King days up to the late 1980's, Jesse was doing great things. Now I do not feel strongly of their actions.

Regarding the "fence", I don't know what you're talking about. I meant everything I said in all of my responses. Obviously you either misread my posts or maybe you just don't understand English. :???:

I promise you don't want to try to go there with me.

I said you're riding the fence because in one post you say one thing and then in the very next post you contradict yourself and say something else. That's why I said to stop riding the fence.

One minute you say that it wasn't that big a deal, the next you say that it was racist. Pick a side. Racism IS a big deal.

You're exactly right. But I live in this little place called Reality. In our town we know that when the shit hits the fan, we're gonna side with our own people even if they're wrong. Is it right? No. Is it fair? No. But shit, neither is life.

Finally......there we have it.

This is the exact reason why there is and will always be a divide between every race here in America. I'm glad you finally admitted that you DO ride the fence.

If I'm exactly right as I put it, I'm just right. I'm not Spanish right. I'm not Brown right. I'm just right. Right? You even agreed with me on that, right? Right.

So then how come you suddenly have a case of IBS of the mouth and spout out what you just did. So let me get this straight; You will side with someone, even when you KNOW they are wrong, just because of the color of their skin or where they came from????? Again, go to www.dictionary.com, look up the definition of RACISM, read it, and see how it applies to you.

Wrong is wrong my friend. REGARDLESS, not BECAUSE, of color or race. So if you think that its right to side with someone based on the color of their skin, you are no better than Al nor Jesse or any other racist because that is EXACTLY what they do.

I hope this post is concise and to the point. I tried not to use any big words so it would cut down on the confusion. :goodjob:

And you may be absolutely right about that, as a matter of fact if you look above you (my reply to Six2Six) will see clearly why it is that certain things get the lime light and others don't.

Stop Generalizing, please.

I can't explain more clearly why I used a general statement. If you want specific examples, I'd be happy to oblige.

Oh, Hitler killed people......so not cool

Dead is dead. Riots incited by rants of racism have KILLED people just as dead as the Jews that Hitler gassed.

Again, I can't explain how the ANALOGY still escapes you. Hitler killed people due to his racism. All the race pimps encourage people that already have racist tendencies into having an excuse to do harm to other people, including killing them. Do you honestly think that any side (black, white, brown, or yellow) has not used the excuse given them by such instigators to commit murder???? Look up your history books. Look at what happened during the Civil Rights era in the South. Why did both Black and White people get killed? Racism. Why did Hitler kill Jews? Racism. Why did people die during racial riots of the 60's and even the 90's? Racism. ALL of which was what??? Further instigated by someone that played on existing thoughts.

Get it now?

I'd probably be angry at first but I'd eventually get over it and move on. It's not the end of the world and I'm sure he knows that.

I promise you don't want to try to go there with me.

If it's a battle of wits you want, I'm always game. ;)

I said you're riding the fence because in one post you say one thing and then in the very next post you contradict yourself and say something else. That's why I said to stop riding the fence.

One minute you say that it wasn't that big a deal, the next you say that it was racist. Pick a side. Racism IS a big deal.

Like I said above, I don't know if he was trying to be racist or not. At first I perceived it that way, but then I gave it some thought. He said something stupid, the wrong people heard it and it backfired.

Finally......there we have it.

This is the exact reason why there is and will always be a divide between every race here in America. I'm glad you finally admitted that you DO ride the fence.

If that's how you define riding the fence, by living in reality, then whatever. You can think that if you want. I won't lose any sleep over it.

So then how come you suddenly have a case of IBS of the mouth and spout out what you just did. So let me get this straight; You will side with someone, even when you KNOW they are wrong, just because of the color of their skin or where they came from????? Again, go to www.dictionary.com (http://www.dictionary.com), look up the definition of RACISM, read it, and see how it applies to you.

Wrong is wrong my friend. REGARDLESS, not BECAUSE, of color or race. So if you think that its right to side with someone based on the color of their skin, you are no better than Al nor Jesse or any other racist because that is EXACTLY what they do.

Don't give me that bullshit. Racism defined:

A belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

Where did I say I was better than someone else? That's right. I didn't. All I did was point out how life REALLY is. But yet you go and twist words again, like you did to Airmax, to make you seem like the good guy.

I made a statement a few pages ago about sexual harassment and how it works in coporate america. This situation is no different other than the media attention. It doesn't matter that I don't see anything wrong with a Matco tools calender showing women in a bathing suit. What matters is it may be offensive to some. People make attempts everyday NOT to offend people; whether because of race, sex, or culture.

Imus was not fired because of Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. He was fired because he crossed a line that his employer was not willing to cross with him. Plain and simple. However what I see here is justification for why "it shouldn't be that big of a deal".

It is very sad that when people think of African Americans, they jump right past the good people and qoute the most controversial people of the race. It never changes.

I'm sure most of you were around a month ago when South Park had the N-word episode. What I'm sure none of you saw on CNN! was the group of African Americans who are trying to BAN the N-word. Imagine that, African Americans that don't use ignorant language; and it wasn't even that hard to find.

I don't know if he would still have his job, but it definately wouldn't have been as big a deal. It's kind of like the recall we have at my job (Toyota). There is a campaign because of a law suit filed against Toyota about certain engines sludging up. Some people were told to pay thousands of dollars to take care of a situation that lay with the design. However, when people started complaining Toyota had to act to protect their image. Things like this happen all the time in business so I don't understand how all these great business minded individuals can't understand it.

your first paragraph made zero sense

the second did, just don't listen to him if you don't like it. If the people bitching at him actually knew about him they would know that he gives a lot of money to charities and he doesn't do it as a publicity stunt to try and make himself look better.

white people can have nappy hair too, so explain to me how its racist

and i keep picking on Al and Jessie because they are the two morons who stick their necks out the furthest
Actually Europeans have straight hair and Africans have corse or "nappy" hair as you call it. "Nappy" hair is indigenous to Africa as it keeps the head cooler and hotter climates whereas straight hair is a genetic adaptation to Europe and Asia to keep the head warm in colder whether.

If a white person has nappy hair they have black blood in them somewhere along the lines which according to TRADITIONAL AMERICAN STANDARDS makes them black. So no white people cannot just sprout naps and waves at random.

We are actually one race with geo-genetic adaptation traits and huge cultural differences. There is no piece of evidence that proves there are actually different races of humans, actually what the hell is a race? A competition to die faster? Why do white people call black people racist when black people, in America, have no viable power to negatively manipulate any ethnicity (or "race" as you call it)?

Why do white people care what Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson say? Do Al Sharpoton and Jesse Jackson impinge upon your rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Maybe they impede people's ability to be racists but thats nothing Jesus Christ condemn.

Now answer the damn questions you yourself were blubbering about 10 pgs ago. Name your so called positive Black community leaders. If you don't want to claim the bad ones, which ones DO you claim? Let's start there.

Either step up to the plate or get off the field. You put it out there, but now can't back it up. Typical.

He got what his employers thought was a proper punishment. Would I have done the same? Probably not. But my name isn't MSNBC.

All he got was the backlash of a media feeding frenzy. Had he been Black, he'd still have a job. Had Al and all his cronies not ran off with the bait, he'd still have his job. So therefore, it wasn't the "market" that determined anything. It was the media frenzy and the political correctness that got him fired. If you think that's cool, good for you. I don't.

Like I said above, I don't know if he was trying to be racist or not. At first I perceived it that way, but then I gave it some thought. He said something stupid, the wrong people heard it and it backfired.

Amen. Now why do we have to have jackass central, the media, people losing jobs, and 5 days worth of front page news about it?? Why? THAT is exactly my point. All the other stuff is menucia, wall covering, smoke and mirrors. The bottomline is that this wasn't that big a deal to begin with and it got blown out of proportion into something that it never was, racist.

Let me ask you something. What if an Asian man walked up to your yellow car and said that he was "offended" by the color of your car because it just went to show that you thought he was inferior to you? What if you told him to fuck off, as you should, and then he sued you? What if the Asian Mafia League for the advancement of Oriental people only came and had a news conference naming YOU as a racist and demanded an appology and for you to lose your job? Would you still be "cool" with that? Would you think that was fair? Would you think that would shine a positive light onto the Asian community???? How is that any different than this? Something small got blown out of proportion when someone spun it to something it was never intended and shouldn't have.

Wrong again.

YOU said that "reality" was that when "shit hit the fan" REGARDLESS of who is right or wrong, "people" always choose to back up "their own kind". Did YOU not say that????

Let's see, I'm going to quote you word for word for accuracy. YOU said:

" In our town we know that when the shit hits the fan, we're gonna side with our own people even if they're wrong. Is it right? No. Is it fair? No. But shit, neither is life. "

HMMMMM, who exactly is YOUR "own people"???

So let's review, shall we?

YOU said that "when the shit hits the fan" YOU will side with "your own people" even if they are "wrong" just because why exactly????? Is it because you like being wrong? Or maybe its that you feel "YOUR OWN" is somehow entitled to your support no matter what because they are "like you"???? And that is NOT being racist because "your own people" in your language refers to someone of a DIFFERENT race? Maybe, but I'm willing to bet not.

So to review you seem to think that you should back up someone eventhough you think they're wrong simply because they are "like you"????? And "like you" in YOUR world means......hmmm....I'll take a stab in the dark and say......same COLOR as you? Maybe same RACE as you? Maybe?

Hmmmmm, that is sooooo far off the DEFINITION of RACISTS that I don't know how anyone could EVER think that is the most racist comment in this thread so far.

You know what you look like right now? Just like a white guy backpedalling and stumbling all over their tongue telling people he's NOT racist because he has 2 Black friends that came over to his house one time.

Whatever. You want to argue with me over something that in essence we agree should of never gotten to this point, yet there it is. TV stations fired him, radio stations fired him, he's labeled a racist for the rest of his life.....all over two simple words; "nappy" and "ho's".

The "ho's" part I can understand, but the nappy part is like telling someone you don't like the color of their shirt. WHO CARES??? I like it, so I wear it. Are they REALLY nappy headed ho's???? If not, why are you so up in arms about someone calling you something YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT???? He's the one that looks retarded. All they had to do was come on TV one day and said, "you know what? I'm a PHD in Astrophysics with a minor in Internal Medicine. YOU sir are an idiot for calling me something I'm not. I'm 10x's as smart as you will ever be, and now EVERYONE knows that. Have a good life...the last couple of years you have left!!!". The end.

Not only would they have shown class and beat him at his own game, but they would have spun a completely positive perception of Black community to boot. Win, Win situation and it wasn't even all that hard. Argue with me on that too.

It's ironic, but I stand corrected. Not totally, but partly.

It seems Al Sharpton is not as dumb as I once thought. Don't know if this is going to work, but I'll try. This link contains a video of a news conference he held in front of CBS today. In it he says exactly what I've been saying all along. EVERYBODY, REGARDLESS OF COLOR, needs to quit using derrogatory terms towards others. I'm sure he'll put his foot in his mouth soon enough, but we'll see. He did prove one of my theories correct though. He admitted this had nothing to do with Imus alone, the bigger picture was "racism". Again, he needs a dictionary to look up what racism is in another world but his.

Either way, enjoy.

So they are "leaders" in your own mind....got it.

I guess maybe you should probably take back what you said about there being "other" Black leaders out there then.

You put it out there and when I questioned you on it you folded. That's the bottom line. Deal with it.

There's still a lot of work to be done but I don't think it's fair to dump the responsibility on a few set people. It's up to the community to do what needs to be done in order to achieve their goal(s).

Nobody is dumping anything onto anyone. You step up to the mic and claim to be offended and claim to represent the "minority" and claim this and claim that whining and complaining all the way.....then it's on YOU because noone forced you to step up to the mic. If you can't handle it, then STFU. Simple. So if someone....Obama, Shirley girl, Al, Jesse, Tito, Michael....whomever steps up and speaks to a public audience on behalf of anyone else or as a representative of anyone else they are acting as a "leader". If they look like idiots doing it, that's on them. Don't come back now and say it's not fair to put it on their shoulders because it was THEY that stepped up to the mic. "They" have no problems soaking up the limelight when it's good, right? Then suck it up when people don't like what you say too.

Does that answer your damn question?

Yeah, you said you didn't want to name any "leaders", probably because you spoke too soon and didn't think anyone would call you on it. I got that answer, but I already knew that one. That took care of #1.

#2. You did answer, although it didn't seem like an honest answer.
#3. You did look up the definition of racist.
#4. You have not answered.
#5. You have not answered.
#6. You have not answered.
#7. You did answer with your famous, "....my people follow blindly even when we know someone is wrong just because we's stick together for no other reason than the color of our skin..." Yep, you answered that one alright.
#8. Was not really a question, it was a rhetorical comment. No answer needed.

Does THAT answer YOUR question?

If I was angry, don't you think I would say something? Just because I said I would get over it doesn't mean I wouldn't let as many people as possible know how I felt about the situation.

Again, why would you be angry? In Imus' situation you seem to agree that he got what he deserved, right? How is that different from my analogy? You work somewhere, say something some queer thinks is derrogatory yet YOU didn't think it was that big of a deal, he comes in to complain, and your work fires you. Is that getting what YOU deserve? You'd "get over it" because you have NO choice. You "move on" because you have NO choice. Neither one make it right. Neither one helps to put food on the table for YOUR family. All the while, the queer that complained goes about his merry way spreading ferry dust everywhere.

You wanna tell me again how THAT is fair???

And yes, you do need to grow up. You remind me of a child that's done something wrong even though his parents told him not to. Now he's trying to twist their words around so he can get out of trouble. That's all you do.

And you remind me of a child that's spoken out of turn at the dinner table. When you get called out by your own words, now you back pedal. How typical. Just because I used your own bullets against you, don't be mad at me. Next time shoot better bullets. ;)

But I like Asian people. :D

I do too.

Ok, Mr. Know-it-all. Everyone abandon your opinions and listen to this guy because he is the All Knowing. We must bow down and show reverence.

See, if you would've said that in the beginning we would've gotten along just fine. :D

Of course I said it. Why? Because it's true and you know it.

Truth and right aren't always in sync.

You merely confirmed exactly what I and many others here have said a gazillion times. People follow others blindly simply because of the color of their skin. That is moronic and stupid, period. You wanna justify it and wanna come up with excuses for it, be my guest. That exact attitude of sweeping things under the rug as if you can't do anything about it so you'll let it slide is the reason why racial relations in this country have never moved forward at the pace they should have. We are in the 21st Century. We are no longer living in the age of June Clever. We live in a completely different world today, yet we still have the black vs. white vs. everyone issue just like we did in the 50's. Not much has changed. THAT is what is a shame. The world has moved into the 21st Century, yet we still have obvious retarded dealings when it comes to racial relations. Why is that? Largely in part to do with that moo cow mentality of let's just follow the cow in front of us because it looks just like me........ :screwy:

Keep thinking that's "ok" because that makes perfect sense to think that way.

I was trying to give you an insight into how the world really operates, but I see that went over your head. Maybe I shouldn't have used pronouns because I really wasn't including my self when I said "we" or "our". I was trying to speak from a third-person point of view. Do you get it? Or do I need to make up a new scenario?

I've lived more and seen more in my life than you will ever fathom. I've both lived and seen REAL poverty, the kind of poverty you see on TV in third world countries. I've gone hungry. I've gone with "holy" shoes. I've had to boil water for a warm bath. So don't sit there and think you have a clue as to what I'm about. I just don't believe in bullshit excuses. Lace up your boots, wade thru the shit, and get to where you wanna go. Excuses are for people that want to justify their failures.

So if you think that because I don't agree with your "insight to reality" that means I'm not aware of what that reality is, you're sadly mistaken. I see the bullshit of reality everyday. Doesn't change the fact that its bullshit. The longer people sit there and coddle it and excuse it, the longer it will remain.

You don't know me or the people I associate with. My friends are made up of almost every general ethnic background. I do not need to prove to someone in my life as insignificant as you that I'm not racist.

Didn't I tell you in my previous post that this is exactly what racist people do often to justify they are NOT "racist"??? :screwy:

Bottom Line......

He should have thought backwards! I bet then he would not have said it.

He was exposed on something negative that he said, racist or not, it was offensive. Society did not like it, which affects the sponsors, who dropped his ass.........

GO TEAM GO!!!!!

I watched Larry King last night and a very good point was made. As a radio personality in a professional work place, he is expected to hold up his professionalism. I work in a satellite office, very tight knit gorup. If something anywhere near offensive was said, I guarantee that person would disciplined or be let go, quick! If I were the one on the chopping block, I would dispute, wait for an outcome and move on!

Imus knows he was wrong, he just did not think it would go as far as it did....

Surprisingly, I agree with that. I stand corrected. I had you pegged as one of those moo cows blindly following the herd. Maybe I was wrong. ;)

Yep, it seems like it.

Quite the contrary. The only time I respond to your jibberish is when I have nothing better to do.

So they are "leaders" in your own mind....got it.

I guess maybe you should probably take back what you said about there being "other" Black leaders out there then.

You put it out there and when I questioned you on it you folded. That's the bottom line. Deal with it.

Don't put words in my mouth. I said a true leader needs to step up. And obviously if there's room for someone to "step up", then the position must be vacant.

Nobody is dumping anything onto anyone. You step up to the mic and claim to be offended and claim to represent the "minority" and claim this and claim that whining and complaining all the way.....then it's on YOU because noone forced you to step up to the mic. If you can't handle it, then STFU. Simple.

WTF are you talking about?

So if someone....Obama, Shirley girl, Al, Jesse, Tito, Michael....whomever steps up and speaks to a public audience on behalf of anyone else or as a representative of anyone else they are acting as a "leader". If they look like idiots doing it, that's on them. Don't come back now and say it's not fair to put it on their shoulders because it was THEY that stepped up to the mic. "They" have no problems soaking up the limelight when it's good, right? Then suck it up when people don't like what you say too.

Good for them.

Yeah, you said you didn't want to name any "leaders", probably because you spoke too soon and didn't think anyone would call you on it. I got that answer, but I already knew that one. That took care of #1.

Answer to this above.

I'm sure Imus is angry, just as I would be if I lost my job. Like I keep repeating, had it been me, I probably wouldn't have fired him over this. But you seem to inadvertently keep skipping over this statement.

And you remind me of a child that's spoken out of turn at the dinner table. When you get called out by your own words, now you back pedal. How typical. Just because I used your own bullets against you, don't be mad at me. Next time shoot better bullets. ;)

No, next time I won't argue with someone who does nothing but twists words with their opinionated babble.

See, if you would've said that in the beginning we would've gotten along just fine. :D

Good. You know they say admittance is the first step. :goodjob:

Truth and right aren't always in sync.

Never did I say it was right. I said it was the truth, and it is.

:screwy:

Sitting here complaining about the state of this country's race relations isn't gonna change anything. It's like a rock, in a way. The rock isn't going to move unless you go and pick it up. This country isn't gonna change until there's an active movement to squash all the beef between the races.

Excuses are for people that want to justify their failures.

I don't use excuses, pal. You get out of life what you put into it.

Just as I didn't know that about you, YOU DON'T KNOW ME. And if I offended you, I'm man enough to apologize. So stop trying to judge someone YOU DO NOT KNOW.

Didn't I tell you in my previous post that this is exactly what racist people do often to justify they are NOT "racist"??? :screwy:

Maybe in your interpretation of the word, but I go by the one that's in the dictionary. Not that I really care what you think anyway.

Lets take race out of the whole equation for a moment. Lets say you had a daughter on that team, you watch her practice day in and day out. You go to all her games and you are proud of her accomplishments. Her and her team worked like hell to make it to the finals and they are rewarded by being called whores. Would it still be no big deal if that was your daughter?

i would be like "wow what an asshole". I wouldnt take it to heart. true, but people seem to get offended way to damn easy. everyone always has to be overly-politically correct. what he said wasn't that damn bad. it was dumb and wrong, but come on. i have had much worse things said to me, friends, family, and about my race and taken much less or no offense. i think that the amount of people offended out weighs, by far, the amount damage that a comment like that should cause. it's all just a circus.

im not talkin abou rights, like freedom of speech, but im saying. If some shit goes down with a group of people, some might take offense to it, soem might. '

U got 3 folks white dude - black dude - asian dude

some random guy comes up and starts spitting insults about asians to all 3 of u alls face. it wont bother the black dude or the white dude. It would bother the asian tho.. the black and white dudes have no place to tell the asian dude.."u shouldnt be offended its not that serious". thats basic principle and respect for other people. If someone told me that something made them upset or shit...i may not understand but thats how they feel thats how they feel.

freedom of speech is alive and well, but u still have to deal with the results of your words. jesse jackson/al sharpton have dealt with their mouths the same way as imus is. sharpton/jackson may be ont he news and at conferences...but their credibility and intentions are always questioned and they will always be thought of as big mouth hipocrits because of their past, and form the shti they have say. Just like Imus hes not being put in jail hes not being fined.. hes being fired from a major station. Now if he was facing jailtime than the freedom of speech card can be thrown. But eveyrone has the freedom to say what they want.. but they need to be prepared to face the results of what they say.

Sharpton and Jackson are a joke. They wait with baited breath for any thing remotely resembling a a racist comment, so they can get themselves back out in front of the cameras.

I am not saying his comment was racist or wasnt racist. What I was saying is that if I had a daughter and somebody on the radio called her a whore I would be pissed. It would "not be no big deal". Would I sue the radio station, no. Would I be all over tv bitching about it, no, but I would applaud thier decision to fire the person who said it.

BTW, Although Shirley girl has been doing a much better job at cleaning up ATL than any of her predecessors (although the last one was a crook who's now in jail, so the bar wasn't exactly high... :D ) she too jumped on the bandwagon. Obama threw his .02 the other day too, a little late to the party are we Mr. Obama??? I fully expect the Hilda Beast Clinton to be somewhere in there in the fray soon enough.

Either way, Sharpton and Jesse started it but there sure are plenty of "leaders" jumping onto the bandwagon too. They too are just as much idiots as the ones who started it.

I also heard in Al's "news conference" (that he probably scheduled himself) that "his group" was going to meet with "Black entertainers" to discuss them not using derrogatory terms too. Yeah, right. Let's see if that turns into a feeding frenzy like this one. Don't hold your breath.

He's doing it on his own, watch.. if you stop responding he'll keep dropping the n bomb (looking stupid and desperate in the process) and eventually go away. You know he's stupid, we know he's stupid.. just let the dude entertain himself.

A) Sack Attack - you're an idiot.

2) As far as rap goes - you walk INTO the store and BUY "Jay-Z" and "Tupac". If it plays on public radio it's the radio version. If your daughter was on that team you'd think differently.

You're abrasive and unnecessarily confrontational, that's one reason.

You can not get your point across without using derrogatory terms that offer no valid purpose in your rant except just you being inflammatory, that's reason two.

My surprise to you not being banned yet has absolutely nothing to do with the color of your skin, just the way you rant is uncalled for IMO.

Well, then how do so many people know about those not so PG13 lyrics then? They certainly aren't listening to the clean version, so they would've had to of heard them somewhere, right?

Let me give you an example: Yesterday, we were at my son's birthday party thing for all his school friends. We had just sat all of the kids down to eat pizza and coke. A friend of ours, one of the parents of the children attending, phone went off. She had as her ring tone that "smack that ass" song that get's played on the radio 52 million times a day. Only the beginning of the song played for about 3 secs. ALL of the children started laughing and giggling. One of the parents said, "hey, what is so funny??? Yall don't know what that song is..." To which one of the children responded by singing all the lyrics up to the "ASS" part, which he just mouthed and not said out loud. Again, all the children broke out in laughter because they KNEW what the words were and that it was probably NOT cool for them to say them. How'd THEY hear it??? Most likely one of those 52 million times on the radio.

Point is: Although I understand what you're saying, many of the people that are saying to hold Black Entertainment's feet to the fire are doing so simply to prove a point and to show how unfair it is to only do it to one side of the equation. Do I care that certain songs have strong lyrics? Only when my kids are within hearing range. Do I care that entertainers make piles of money? Absolutely not. Do I care certain songs get played on the radio? Absolutely not, that's what the dial is for.

Bottomline is that if the Black community is going to take up arms against one insignificant guy for saying "nappy headed ho's", they should also take up arms against their own for saying far worse a whole lot more times than just once for 3 secs. If you don't, then you are being a hypocrite. "Ho's" means the same thing weather a White man says it or a Black man says it or a Brown man says it. Why should we treat any of them any different?

BTW, Carlos Mencia had a skit on his show last night that was entitled, "are you smarter than a WETBACK?" as a parody to Jeff F's show. I didn't watch it because I'm not a fan of Carlos, but should all Mexican's now make a big deal and have him fired??? He certainly labeled Mexican's with a direct name and on top of that the characters playing the skit were strictly stereotypical from what I saw. Now what? Should we have a week's worth of front page news about it? Should we call for his firing? See the double standard?

You answered your own question - ONE OF THE PARENTS had that tone in a setting full of kids.

If she is a parent w/ that tone, then what movies does she watch at home? What ELSE is she exposing her kids to? And it's not just her - it's in almost every household.

blacks make up 80% of our prison bitch, not 70%.

Thats whats wrong with out world, and our so called "leaders" is that you and them think the same way.

Lets just give the blacks all of our money, just let them fuckin cry racism when there is a lot more and bigger problems them blacks crying, this is america, theres a lot more places to go if ya dont like it.

It's not blacks that I dont like, I have never, but would love to fuck black chicks, I love blacks chicks, I dont have ANY problem with the skin color, what I do have a problem with is pure ignorance such as

niggers cannot drive
niggers cannot be respectful
niggers hang out all the fuckin time, GET A JOB!!!!!!!!!
they wear them long ass white tee shirts that look funny

just like white trash mother fuckers

they live in the trailor park
they molest little kids

every race has there fuck ups, but it is known that the hip-hop lifestyle is not music anymore, it is something to be. If all you listen to is hardcore hip-hop/rap then chances are that your trying to make an image for yourself

everything fits in together, blacks think "Hey, I'm black, so I HAVE to have a rwd GM car, I HAVE to have flowmasters, I HAVE to have either rims or black steel wheels, I HAVE to have a few baby mommas, I HAVE to have something do to with selling/using drugs, and I HAVE to have white tees.
Oh yeah, and I HAVE to listen to rap

I like cutlass' and big rims, but if I wanna drive that shit with a cowboy hat on smoking marlboro red and listening to fuckin conway twitty, I'm gonna do it and I aint gonna let no fucking image of what I'm supposed to be get in my way

Ha Ah Ha, this guy is dumb...... :lmfao:

The "everthing fits together" line is hilarious!!!! So pitiful.....

I drive an AWD Japanese car.....my mom drives a 4wd Japanese car/German RWD car......my uncle drives a FWD GM car...... :taun:

YOU = PART of America's problem.....

Blacks, White, Mexican, etc.... = crime, aids, violence, rape, drugs, mass murder, auto theft......There is a direct relation to poverty~~~~

Kick rocks! You disrupted a very productive discussion, please ban him!!!! I really do not care if you are the magical green alien from Mars; I do not like you....

So you think that it just happened to be that all 18 children that were present happen to have heard the uncut version of that Akon song with the full consent of their parents at some point or another?

I can vouch for atleast 2 of the children present and I know that the ONLY place they would hear those uncut lyrics would be from the RADIO or TV. Either way, I can guarantee you that MY 2 kids have NEVER bought or listened to that song in it's uncut version with MY permission nor my wife's. So where'd they hear it? Again, on the radio and TV.

My point was simple. You said that radio plays "clean" versions of music, and I'm telling you that they don't all the time. This was a party for 8 yr old kids. Do you honestly think that their parents would knowingly allow their 8 yr old son/daughter to listent to that song's lyrics which are talking about "smacking that ass" while you are having SEX???? But somehow or another they KNOW what that song is about or atleast suspect it's not good. So how come we are not boycotting Akon or the radio stations for advocating "smacking the ass" of a woman while she's on all 4's and we're pounding her from behind?????

Again, I personally don't have issue with it, that's what the dial is for. I monitor what both my kids and even my Godchildren when they come over watch and even download onto their Ipods. If I don't like it, then the answer to them is "NO", end of discussion. Does that mean that their buddies at school won't let them listen to THEIR Ipod where the same song I veto'd could be??? I'm not stupid to think it's not possible. It still doesn't change the fact that AKON sung the song with certain lyrics. HE chose to do that. HIS record label recorded it and made piles of money off it. RADIO plays it over and over again, with them too making gobs of money off it. Bottomline is that AKON can say whatever HE wants and there is no retribution for it. One old WHITE guy says "nappy headed ho's" on a show that has a minute fraction of what AKON's audience is, yet he gets fired and labeled while Akon goes on to fame and fortune. Double standard exhibit #5000000000000. ;)

I kinda agree. People do have the ability to turn the dial. When I have kids, I will definately monitor what they hear, do, see, and damn near think, lol.

But, I just feel that IMUS still "called out" a group. The RUTGERS B-BALL TEAM.
If Akon were to say that he was "smacking Oprah or Hillary's ass on the floor" he would catch pure hell......yuck, that is a horrible thought by the way

Wrong. The bottom line is the CDs are sensored - there are ratings right there on the packaging. And the FCC approves what can be played or not. People act like this is Imus' 1st dance and it's not - he has been asking for it for years. He earned exactly what he got. I dont think it infringed on his first amendment rights, if you worked at a grocery store and called one of the patrons a nappy headed ho you would get fired too. Right or not- the old white man should know he's messing with his meal ticket by saying that. Just because a rapper can say it doesn't mean you can. I've never been a fan, so I can't say that I know the typical style of his program. It sounded to me like he used the same context that someone of my generation would use, referring to a type of woman of any racial descent. But he's got to know that he's not Dave Chappelle and that he's not the person to boldly go where no old white guy has gone before. Especially making fun of women in a predominantly African-American sport. I don't like the idea of firing someone based on what I heard him specifically say. I do support the idea, however, of firing Imus now that I know he is ignorant enough to think HE could get away with saying it (and on the air!). You have to possess a certain element of stupid for that. And what other points of view are perverted by that same element of stupid?

He'll find a job somewhere. Or maybe he can write a book about all of this and make even more money...

1) You have the right to not buy things from advertisers on his show.
2) You have the right to change the channel.
3) His employer has the right to fire him if they want.
4) You have the right to be mad if he said this about your daughter while sitting right in front of you at the B-ball game.
5) You can even punch him in the lip but then you turn into the bad guy and have to take responsibility for what you do. And that's what he is doing - taking responsibility for what he said.

He's a button pusher and has been for 20 years. An equal opportunity offender and he's made these kinds of remarks about every race, color and religious background.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. Where does it guarantee the right to not be offended?

As far as Don, I think they fired him because of pressure from sponsors, media and so on. They were worried about their image if they approved imus to continue broadcasting. My personal opinion is that what he said was out of line and should realize that his light hearted comment was taken very seriously by others.. but this national epidemic is rediculous. Imus continues to sincerely apologize and the basketball team accepts the apology and moved on but will not forget... just like the rest of the world should. We have way too many more serious issues to deal with right now. I believe racism is a very serious issue, but I don't believe Don was being racist, he just said a racist thing and didn't think things through before he said it. I'm sure he said this comment in reference to the hip hop community (wheather he hears the slang from rap or on the streets), however that's not an excuse. It is also not "rap's" fault. Don screwed up, we still live in a time where many people are still very hurt from the past (slavery), and as long as that hurt is spread down generation to generation.. we must respect each other's seperate racial cultures.

You are correct, definately. The issues should have been killed after they met with him. I watched a women's forum last night, mixed races, they are pissed! It has now gone from racist to offensive, offensive to disrespectful. The women are using this make a point across U.S., and they are going to run with it! Watch what you say to your wives and girlfriends..... :(

The bottom line is the CDs are sensored - there are ratings right there on the packaging.

Wrong. That's not censorship. That is warning labels, very very different. NOONE is keeping the rappers from rapping about ANYTHING. Last time there was any kind of real censorship was back in the 2live Crew deal. There is a HUGE difference between putting a sticker warning parents (they are the only ones that DON'T know what bad words are being used if there is anyone that doesn't know) that in that disc there are 52 million curse words used. That sticker DOES NOT keep the rapper from saying those words to begin with NOR is it keeping him from recording those words onto a CD NOR does it keep him from selling that CD and making gobs of money off it. So NO censorship at all there. Sorry.

And the FCC approves what can be played or not.

What's played on the air, yes. What's sold at the stores, NO. What sells at the stores? Dirty version.

People act like this is Imus' 1st dance and it's not - he has been asking for it for years.

Exactly. He's been using the same type of dry humor against every race under the sun, but now suddenly it makes a difference??? How so?

He earned exactly what he got.

No he didn't. If there was any other more important news last week, he'd still have his job today. If a Black man would've said it, he'd have a job today regardless. So how exactly did he get what he deserved???? He got what he got because the 1st Ammendment rights really don't and shouldn't apply AT WORK. AT WORK, the only rights that matter are the ones your boss affords you since it's HIS BUSINESS. But if Imus went to a street corner and shouted at the top of his lungs what everybody is having their panties in a bunch about there would be NOTHING ANYONE could do. NOTHING!!! Why? First Ammendment. AT WORK, the owner should be the ONLY one to have any say so NOT ANYONE ELSE. That's NOT what happened here at all.

I dont think it infringed on his first amendment rights, if you worked at a grocery store and called one of the patrons a nappy headed ho you would get fired too. Right or not- the old white man should know he's messing with his meal ticket by saying that.

See above.

When you work FOR someone, you are working under THEIR rules. Imus' employer DIDN'T have a problem with what he said UNTIL Sharpton and Jackson made the media frenzy they did. Remember, he said it for a good week or two BEFORE the media and the race pimps got a hold of it.....why didn't he get fired before that??? His bosses were listening just fine to it WHEN he said it to begin with. Funny how that works, right?

There is a big difference between a quick backlash to sticking your foot in your mouth and caving in to political correctness and scare tactics. BIG DIFFERENCE.

Just because a rapper can say it doesn't mean you can.

There it is!!! That's the real reason all this crap is going on. The DOUBLE STANDARD that everyone thinks is all fine and dandy until it involves them.

Tell me exactly WHY it's "can" and anyone else "can't". What exactly entitles the rappers to say what they want with impunity yet when someone else says a tiny portion of what they scream out at their concerts in front of millions of people including under age children they suddenly get labeled "racist(s)"? How does that work like that?

I've never been a fan, so I can't say that I know the typical style of his program. It sounded to me like he used the same context that someone of my generation would use, referring to a type of woman of any racial descent.

Then how can you say that he has been "asking for it for years"??? ;)

Same way everyone else who backs his firing did.....Al and Jesse told them so....

But he's got to know that he's not Dave Chappelle and that he's not the person to boldly go where no old white guy has gone before. Especially making fun of women in a predominantly African-American sport.

There you go again, using that double standard. Why is it that Chappelle can and Imus can't? THEY ARE WORDS, folks. WORDS!!!

Are we going to keep promoting a society where it's ruled by a bunch of NIMBYs (Not In MY Back Yard) wimps???? Everything is status quo until someone wants to do it in YOUR backyard, THEN it's not cool anymore. BS. Right is right, wrong is wrong REGARDLESS.

I don't like the idea of firing someone based on what I heard him specifically say.

I thought you said he got what he "deserved"?

He's a button pusher and has been for 20 years. An equal opportunity offender and he's made these kinds of remarks about every race, color and religious background.

Hmmm, then how come he gets fired NOW? Watching the news explains why. Al, Jesse, and all the bandwagon riders will tell you why since they are the only ones getting the real airtime.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech. Where does it guarantee the right to not be offended?

Exactly, so why is this such a big deal? Hurt feelings aren't PROTECTED under ANY part of the U.S. Constitution.

[/quote]As far as Don, I think they fired him because of pressure from sponsors, media and so on. They were worried about their image if they approved imus to continue broadcasting.
