I want to start a punk rock band...

I know there are a few people on here that play instruments, and i've been trying to start a band for the longest damn time, so i figured i'd make a thread and see if anyone is interesting in getting something together.

I'm probably a better bassist but i'd really like to do something where I could be lead vocals and rhythm guitar. I'm not totally set on punk(old school) but that is definitely my preference (i'm REALLY desperate to get back into the music scene).

So i guess i need a good lead guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. I can offer my house (in lilburn) as a practice spot and the best day for me to get together would be sunday after 6.

I have a few sketchy samples of what i've written if you'd like to hear. Recordings were done on a computer microphone with an acoustic guitar.

If anyone has any other openings for bands i'd also be interested in that. I don't really have a bass setup anymore aside from my old piece of shit ibanez but i'd be more confident playing bass than guitar in somebody elses band. If i felt it was worth my money i'd be willing to go out and get some decent equipment. I have some gig experience and whatnot.

Yeah I mean I'm not looking to start anything that is going to be immediately serious. I've always believed that you should take some time to create band chemistry and write some good music before you "come out of the closet" (yes, i probably could have picked a better phrase).

I'm doing 50+ hours a week between work and school so i really can't afford to dive right into anything at this point (which is why the softball team fell on it's face)... So, I'd really like to do this more for fun than anything else.

The only punk band i listen to consistently is pennywise but i really like some mixed songs from rancid, social distortion, bad religion, the misfits and so on. I doubt they all really fall into the same category but good shit none the less. Sublime is probably more punk/ska but they are my favorite band of all time.

I honestly don't know if I could dedicate myself to being in a band again. My last band lasted about 4 years, was semi-successful (outside of GA since the scene here sux), and it was a hell of a good time ... but the effort you have to put into it really takes a toll.

even though it crosses my mind from time to time, I have too much goin on these days to try again.
