yeah carfax tells the mileage of the car, not the motor.
I had a problem like this with my ex GFs ITR engine. She pulled her motor an put a new one in it at 90K. She drove it for 2 years an i finally sold the old longblock with 90K on it.
Some people accused me because the carfax said 110K. i had to explain that.
This motor could have been pulled in 99 with 40K on it, and the car could have 150k on it now. Carfax will only say what the car had or cluster read.
