Default B16 crank spins but the timing belt doesn't ?

One of my buddy's friends EM1 is broke down. I'm not with them but they said it won't start but they said the crank spins but the timing belt won't. Oil pump gear broke?

If it broke then I'm sure. But they made it sound like it's tight. I might get to look at it tomorrow. It sounds wild to me

Yeah I just saw it. None of the valves are all the way open and the the bottom timing belt gear is spinning but the belt just vibrates and has tension there going to pull the pulley off tomorrow

check the teeth on the belt, hopefully its not missing any teeth. But definitely sounds like the crank key (looks like a very small rectangle metal piece), like what everyone else is saying. Make sure when you guys have found and inserted the crank key, to have all the top dead center markings correct, be precise about it. and that your timing belt has the correct tension due to the tensioner. Hope all works out man. Keep us updated.
