the shit is something black people, especially black men, have dealt with our entire lives. it's nothing new but still very fucked up. i can go into the nicest restaurant, dressed to impressed and because i'm a little higher on the pigmentation scale, i will either be ignored, stared at funny or a combination of all. even with a large sum of money in my pocket, i'll probably, if i can get a seat at all, be hit automatically with a 15% or more gratuity charge on my bill (cause popular thought is that black people dont tip). even though, since i've worked as a waitor before, i've been known to give up to half the bill amount, based on service from the waitor/waitress. but that means nothing'cause i'm black.
