    I wouldn't spend 1k on an engine/transmission. Not for a d15b2 atleast.

    I have a d15b2 (with a blown head gasket) with an automatic tranny. It's currently in my project car. Depending on how soon you need everything, I'm willing to sell it for pretty cheap.
