what would come of you flying it around an airport? Im sure it wouldnt come up on radar, but what if you fly it around the tower?
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
With any technology comes great responsibility (guns, cars, etc). You always have to fly safe -- and of course yield to full-scale traffic. You also have to be prepared to safely ditch the plane if need be. What you been up to man - LONNNNNNNNG time no see.

nice.. how much did u paid for the plane
Well - I'd never suggest anyone get started w/ a plane like this wing - The wing is only $70 - but of course it has to have motor, ESC, servo, camera, on-screen display, and long-range radio. The way to get started is with a simple plane (in fact - it's the most fun). I'd get a Multiplex Easy Star with a simple video system --- $200 - 250 to get you going quite nicely. In fact - I still fly my simple planes the most... like this one - my D~zee from Britflight. It's slow and stable - and that's what you need to develop your skills before you move to a big fast plane like my wing.
Some video from this plane :

can you call in a mortar strike for me with this?

I could ---- but it'll cost you. LOL.

That shit is awesome...I'm gonna just steal a USD and use it LOL
Nice!!

Thanx guys - I'm going for 15 miles this weekend if I have good weather.

Came in a little hot at the end of your video in OP, didnt you? lol. 37mph.
63XX Feet, isn't that skydiving territory?
LOL - yeah I was a little too excited, so she came in a little warm. LOL. I should have did a loop around the field to bleed off some altitude. I've been much higher than that alt --- but I try to respect full-scale aviation and fly as low as possible.

^^ Yes. I normally run a replayXD instead though - and depending on if it's a paying project I'll run the goPro. GoPro v2 just released so I'm waiting for the reviews to see if its worth getting. I do like the replayXD a little better. I won't risk an expensive HD cam just to get HD of me buzzing around aimlessly --- so I use
1) 808 #11 HD cam like in this video
2) HobbykingHD cam (used to get the high res stills in this video

I just sold my GoPro Hero. Have a Hero2 arriving this week. I've watched a lot of videos with the Replay XD, and when it is a normal person recording (not the company itself), it is the same quality as the regular Hero. I'm hoping that the Hero2 will take it up a notch, but it definitely has more features.
We can find out pretty quickly - strap mine on and take it up. I'll even give you something to film - I could bring out some cars (or bikes if the weather is warm enough), and you could buzz in from above.

I'm ready when you are - I have passenger goggles that I always have powered --- so you get to see what I see and ride as a passenger - you'll be instantly hooked. I like the GoPro - but it has a bad problem w/ fisheye effect (Replay doesn't) - the sunnex lens fixes this effect - but the Replay's form factor is more streamlined for strapping to a plane

Should be here this week. I have the flat lens housing and the polarizer from Eye of Mine. New model allows you to choose the FOV.

I don't wanna risk your new cam - LOL. Don't take a new cam and put it miles away from you - LOL. But we'll def fly together -- you will be hooked I assure you

So whats the rig on the tripod? Im really interested in the electronics you use to fly the plane 10+ miles up. Whats the Sat readout on the display?
The tripod has the video receiver, and the video receiver antenna. It also has an antenna-tracker. This means that wherever I fly, the antenna rotates and pans and tilts to follow the plane. As far as the RC control and how I can control it for many miles - it's a DragonLink LRS (Long Range System). It's half a watt of power and is UHF.
The display tell me lots of information --> MPH, altitude, number of satellites locked (you need satellites so you know how to get back to yourself), amp draw, total milliamps used, home arrow and distance to/from home and number or Volts left in the battery pack.

Yes - but they also will knock some1 silly if they fall out of the sky at 100mph - LOL. For me to carry a GoPro I better be at the GrandCanyon or near Justin Beiber - LOL. Otherwise a "budget" HD camera gets the job done - especially after processed with a decent video editing program.

David --- since you like the goPro --- here is my buddy Trappy (in Austria) and a little GoPro (v1) action

How do I launch a 5 foot wing with not 1 but TWO 2 5000 milliamp battery packs??? EASY

I want a heli like this for overhead shots.

There are better quads out there - but the Gaui (what you posted) is pretty decent - here it is --> http://www.mikrokopter.us/shop/index...product_id=166
Rotorcraft are a steeper learning curve but more rewarding - I've been flying helis since 1989 - they have come a LONG way. My buddy JUZ is a beast - but I prefer real helis ove quads - and of course planes.

I just want one that I can use low level flight. Just want it to be smooth, easy to fly, and relatively cheap. I want to hover smoothly 25 ft above a road, and be able to ease through a parking deck at a level flight.

i vote this the coolest nerdy thread on IA
Shits bad ass, I tried to tech my self helis but gave up after I had more sunk into spare parts to fix what my dumb ass tore up than the helicopter was worth. Probably should have started with a less advanced heli.
Try not. Do or Do not.
Yeah - screw racing. You gotta bring your wallet to be competetive. This is not compaetition stuff - and also electric power is much cheaper and quieter and more efficient. GoPro is what most people strap to their planes/trucks. It's not the most efficient but the picture it gives is pretty good - even though slightly oversaturated.
If it has an engine/motor, I'm into it - not just cars
