Default 87 GTI with 97 passat VR6 swap (german beast)

I bought this as a project car to play with but I'm going another direction and am selling the car. No expense was spared tons of new parts were added:

    1987 GTI w/ 1997 Passat VR6 engine + trans
    • New Head Gasket
    • New Clutch
    • New Seals
    • New Control Arm Bushings
    • New Battery
    • New gas Cable
    • New spark plugs and wires
    • New timing chain guides and chain tensioners
    • New Cv Boots
    • New Rack (550$)
    • New p/s Rack Boots
    • New 2.5 Tectonics Exhaust and Borla Muffler
    • New Billet Shift Knob
    • Engine Bay Jammed out in VW Jazz Blue
    • 1995 Jetta BBS Wheels
    • A3 Jetta dash (not installed)
    • 97 passat 5-lug brakes front and rear
    • Recaro seats
    • Zender Wing
Motor: running strong and smooth look brand new /// Exterior: straight no major issues just minor dings (there is a hood just not in pics) /// Interior: door panels and carpet in great shape; seats i would recover

The car is in great running condition it has been street driven. Its a little beast so much power for such a little car; perfect setup for drag/road racing or street sleeper. There are a few things left to finish: install the Mk3 dash (included) or put a Mk2 back in, hook up AC (included) was awaiting fitment of Mk3 dash, hook up ebrake (included), and new windsheild (has 2 cracks).

Selling for $3000.00 so thats what i'm asking. If someone can come up w/ 4000.00 i will have the car painted for you. (vin: 1vwdc0176hv062812)

well the car was going to get painted Jazz Blue so bay was painted before the motor was dropped in; thats the correct way to do it.

Thanx guys for the props, a swap like this will easilly cost roughly $3000-5000. I know someone i took out in it Friday night who was quoted $4000 to do it. Not only was the motor swapped but the 5 lug conversion was done as well

with a good driver and tires you can do 13's in a swapped mk2... this is the civic hatch of the german world... w/ nitrous 12's boost you can do 8's depending on cash flow

there is not a better power plant then this; imagine a civic w/ a type R swap thats what it is... now it just needs BOOST

when i first drove it i was awful surprised by it; it doesn't have the brute kick my 1.8t did but dayum its fun as hell to drive and the gearing is way better then my 1.8t; thing fucking screams and it is a lot of motor for this little car.

I know of a few MK2 VRs with street tires running mid 13s with a great driver. Usually they are in the 14s.

This is news to me, yet paul seems to be a great guy even though most of us didnt agree with his crazy green paint job

good luck with the sale man, that GTI is running strong.

this car should sell pretty quick. if you have a fully done MK2 w/ vr6 w/ all of the pretty shit wheels, paint, boost, etc.. you can get over 8000+k even for a 20 yr old car. its the perfect dub, light and beefy... just need big wheels and paint

Single rounds, big bumpers/doors, paint and this thing would be smokin'.

It's funny this is posted today, as I was just talking about A2/VR6s in the GTi/G60 thread.

The car is up on ebay and there are 18 people watching the auction; if you want the car it is gone in 4 days i would rather sell it locally to someone who will enjoy it; if you want it get w/ me ASAP

    Never heard of it

Paul and most of the people over on whoretex dont get along...he made to much power for them on a 1.8T, then they called him a ricer since his car was kiwi green, but in reality it was just jelousy since they couldnt make 183lbs (is that # right?) of torque on the factory turbo.

Man what a great price. Im getting ready to drop more than that on a swap of my own. If I wasnt obsessed with the idea of a VR Jetta Coupe I would buy this right now.

What's the difference between the GTi's/Jetta's VR6, and the Passat's VR6? Why was the Passat's VR6 selected? If this is inappropriate, then please PM me. You the man, Paul.

Well the MK2 didn't come with the vr6, the Passat vr6 is the best motor for swap.

Techincally a corrado is the best swap and is an A2 but the next best is the passat cause they are more readily available, either way both have the same engine basically. I think the passat just has taller gears.

None the less this could be you after a AWD conversion + a turbo
