i could see an exhaust and heard a blow off valve, it was a red one on 575 before the woodstock hwy 92 exit.. both went at it around 70mph i slowly took him and put a car on him @ 140ish... nice car if ya see this

I've actually seen a modded one catback, safc, and injen intake dyno like 220horsepower. But i do believe something wasn't right. I think the mods he had sucked for the car.

I've heard of 350Z's beating Evo's from a roll but I havent had the chance to witness it. I tried racing a modded evo and got smoked on the interstate, and I don't think the G coupes are far off from 350Z's performance wise.
And uhm, depending on the dyno I've seen stock 350Z's put down 222whp to 226whp.
Yeah. I've been to a few different dyno days where 350s only put down 220-225whp.

just to explain these sorry as numbers, the VQ engine is very sensitive to heat.. alot of morons go with the cold air intake setups which actually lose power.. the infamous Injen/aem/and yes.. the nismo too, how can inflow be good with that kind of piping?.. its just too damn long, and all the upper intake tubing on all those and most other intakes conduct heat so well.. totally killing the point of them being "cold air", the best intake set ups for this car are with either a inside out super jet hot coated piping or with the OEM tube.

aww damn why do they have to be morons? I've seen noticeable gains with the Injen intake on other coupes, nothing drastic but none of the bolt ons really are on the VQ.
most people have lost hp and torque down low with the borla exhaust that you have as well.. would they be considered morons too? Not flaming, just curious.

the borla is a top end gainer, you sacrifice low end for top end. look it up.. there are several exhaust shootouts online... (there is also a single midpipe back borla and might be the one you are thinking of) the Borla true dual gave the biggest HP gains, gains were 6-10rwhp.
not just any part will give you gains..

I can believe the story, I mean your running what about low 13s may high 12s with the 350 right? highway pull AWD vs RWD. Not to mention if you heard a BOV the guy is most likely not the smartest, bov actually hurt performace on evo's (unless you have a blow-thru setup), but the guy probably only had some minor mods done to it.

A BOV in a evo it might affect the Evo performance if your running stock intercooler plus not a a proper engine managament. It really doesn't affect it that bad, it just stalls on idle and other minor things. Plus you could hear a stock BOV on a stock Evo.

1.) If this guy can show me a time slip of him running low 13's or high 12's, I'll be VERY impressed... aka, there's no way in hell he's running those times on that 350z.
2.) BOV does not hurt performance on Evo's (or any MAF cars) when recirculated.
3.) A BOV has NOTHING to do with your intercooler.
4.) Dyno graphs do not show how fast a car is... rather how much power it makes.
5.) In a bone stock evo, the recirculation valve is completely silenced.

None taken, when I said coupes I meant G35 Coupes.. I'm pretty familiar with them and 350Z's.
I'm not saying you didnt beat the Evo, I believe you did.. the comment about morons going with the injen intake when I've seen them consistently dyno 5hp-6hp higher than other modified 350Z's without stood out to me.
I know of the 12 second 350Z, not to discount what they were capable of achieving but there are a few factors that would be hard to replicate at the track or on the street. First their 60 ft time was 1.6, I can guarantee you that had more to do with the 12 second pass than any modification they had on that car, it surely wasn't an intake.
The driver makes a world of difference and the temperature was 40-50 degrees with headwind, basically what I'm saying is your comparing apples to oranges. Theres one n/a Z that makes a 12 second pass and theres plenty of Evo's making consistent 12 second passes. Trap speed is going to mean more on the street than E.T.
And I have just a little personal experience with the VQ engine, I just got my car back tuesday with dyno #'s.
I have yet to see a 350z, stock or modified, run faster than a 14.0 at the track. Never seen a TT'd one run, tho.

I have a G35 but I ran a 13.9 @ 102mph n/a (2.1 60 ft) a couple of months ago, I'll see if I still have the slip around the house. I'm going to try and hit high 11's now.

my friend's 350 runs 13.6 on stock tires..not sure if he had any bolt on. I can post video if he would give it to me.
i have a video of a 350zTT running a 7.5 in and 1/8. didnt say his 1/4 but somewhere around high 12s low 13s my guess

I said maybe high 12's. Most likely I would bet on 13's, but I don't know how much wieght reduction he has done, if the car is completely gutted I bet he could break into the 12's.
If it were recirculated it wouldn't be a Blow Off Valve now would it. BOV vent to the atmosphere while Compressor Bypass Valves recirculate.
I haven't seen a lot of 350z's running around here but there is a guy who just got a g35 with a stillen sc setup and he is running mid 13's on street tires.
