Julio, you talking about your Audi TT? If so, what's your redline and what are you launching at? Are you slipping the clutch at all or dumping? What's happeneing when you launch... bogging like crazy?

redline @ 7... launching between 3 to 3500..... Bogging like hell...
No matter how much I feather the shit is either bogging like hell or I feel Im not going no where.. I tried both dumping and slipping...
3500 to 4000 and blip the gas when your doing it, and pretend your driving off first gear normally like at a stop light

Try launching at around 5,500 ~ 6,000 w/ a very slight slip of the clutch (~0.5sec) followed by dumping it. Also, right when you engage the launch, go full WOT and don't let off until your shift point... in other words, don't be at part throttle in the launch.

TT can't handle such a high launch stock clutch is weak and he'll probably mess up something in the rear diff
3000-3500 is what i launch my 1.8t on... thats pretty common, its not a civic w/ vtec

I see nothing wrong with a 5-6k dump......thats what i do and once i get traction....its over baby
Mid engine launches FTW!
Julio.. do 4-5k rpms.. start lettinf off the clutch.. when the car jerks forward to start moving, dump/go WOT, rear should bark a bit.

mike remember when everyone at the fudd told me to redline my car and dump it. what happened I shattered the rear diff. and here you go telling him to basically almost do the samething wow you my friend are a smart guy
Press the clutch in all the way with one foot while pressing the accelerator peddle down with the other foot, raising the engine RPM to a constant moderate level for the first launch around 3500-4k. Lift up on the clutch peddle to the point where the car is just about to start moving and hold both peddles still. Slowly release the clutch while quickly applying the accelerator peddle enough to launch the car quickly, but not too much to induce a large amount of wheel spin. Start conservative with the first launch and keep increasing the RPM at which the car is launched at during the subsequent runs. If the car starts spinning the tires too much after the launch, lower the launch RPM and try again.
Lots of practice required to keep from frying the clutch or bogging the motor
its fucking AWD, its not rocket science, you rev it up and you drop the clutch, if it bogs, your NOT LAUNCHING HIGH ENOUGH.Originally Posted by St0lenR
Hugo no one ever told you to launch at redline. I beleive we were talking about US HONDA guys doing it. if you did it, hey, thats your fault. Shold know the limits of your car.
BTW: Julio if your really interested, Launching especially on a AWD car is gonna cause stress and be prepared for something to break. But , every AWD car i have ever DRIVEN or LAUNCHED or OWNED, if you launch and it bogs, your launching to low. YOu can try feathering the gas as you drop the clutch. Lauch higher, itll hook

It really sounds like you have no experience launching an AWD car... you've described how to launch a FWD/RWD. You're basically implying to launch an AWD Turbo car like a sissy. As I said before, right when the launch is engaged, go WOT 'til shift point or go slow... none of this partial throttle shit. Also, holding revs works but not as well as feathering the throttle before the launch... if you blip the gas pedal and hold it at x rpm, it'll create boost and bring you to 0 vac for a brief moment and then settle back into vacuum while you're holding the revs. Now, try feathering the throttle within a 500rpm window with consistant blips of the throttle... every blip will bring you back to 0 vac... and engage the launch synchronized with when you blip the gas pedal so you launch at 0 vac or in boost instead of in vacuum. Consider it as a manual 2-step.Originally Posted by BLk92DA
Oh, and ppl are right about bogging... if you bog, launch higher. If you launch higher, be prepared to fix broken shit. Wheel spin is *much* better than bogging anyday.

I guess practice makes perfect....![]()
Is amazing the diffrence between awd and FWD......
When my car was stock/near stock, I could hold revs at 6k and dump the clutch and not bog. That doesn't work for me anymore. but basically all I do is hold the rpms at 4.5k and let the clutch up to just beyond th point of friction so that the car moves just an inch and then dump the clutch all the while keeping the gas floored.

Do you have an ignorant font or something?
on street tires id launch that shit at like 5 or 6k slipping the clutch so i wouldnt break parts. If ur not worried id rev it higher every time and dump the clutch til the tires spin, then back off about 500rpm. good luck bc ive never drove a awd car. lol!!!

Launching an AWD was easier for me than launching a FWD with a lot of power. Julio just play with it man, by my 4th run I got it decent. I pre-loaded with the e-brake revved it too 5-5300 and tried to keep it constant and just kinda slipt it. I didnt get a great 60' but it was decent for barley any experience.
