    Wink Z06 vs. 996TT

On my way to another set run I come across a 996TT AWD getting on it down the road. I decide to get next to him and give'em alittle jump. They were all smiles and were game. We slow to a 45-50 roll and I give the honks. This guy must have been going by German honks or something cause I would hit off 3 honks and go, and he would still be waiting as if there should be a 4th honk. We finally work it out and try again. I hit the honks and jump on the third, he doesnt so I let off right as he hits it. I get back into it and we are off. We were side by side through 2nd, I hit third and here comes the walking. Pulling, pulling, pulling, pulling----BYE BYE!!! Not sure how far I pulled but let off as there was not much more point. These guys were very cool and we stop up ahead and chat. Car had some nice BBS style wheels, and not sure if it had any mods or not. They were amazed how I pulled them and asked what I had. I said intake and exhaust and their jaws dropped. Guess they were surprised my $51k walked their 6 figure car. They were really cool about the whole thing and we went our seperate ways afterwards.

HAHA...........sure! Sorry but that is true BS. Was the guy racing? Most any SC Z will put 500+ at the rear wheels. Either he wasnt racing, or he cant drive. What kindof power does your S2K make?

I saw a SC S2k and he was only making 350rwhp...

He wasn't chipped. He had the factory turbo "S" package (444hp vs 415hp stock - K24 turbos vs K16 turbos). It is basically the X50 package that you can buy for the normal "turbos" without the "S".

turbo + X50 = Turbo S; different cars, but the same horsepower.

One is the turbo that is ordered with the X50 package, the other already comes with it and is called the Turbo S.

I have seen that vid a few times. The Z06 owner is on the vette boards, and we talked about that vid. The 911 Turbo S owner and him are buddies. They both agree they are a dead heat, and also remember the Z has a passenger in the video- which the passenger was another 250lbs. I dont believe that Turbo S is stock either. Doesnt the S model have more power? Ruiner?

    996TT- 415hp/415tq stock
    996 Turbo S- 444hp/457tq stock

    Pretty good difference there.

Marshall, I doubt that they were chipped.

A "chipped" turbo like mine + exhaust will put down about 430-450awhp and 480-500awtq @ 16psi to give you an idea. That's about 70whp and 100wtq from the chip alone. A chip really wakes these cars up. My buddy ran 11.6 @ 123mph with just chip and exhaust in his '01 turbo automatic.

An '02+ Z06 and an '01+ 911 turbo will run neck and neck, stock for stock. Once you start modding, things begin to differ as do all cars.

I will agree with you on the modding the cars they differ. But a turbo car will respnd better than a N/A car will anyday to mods. The Z06 is a great running car and the only way to determine it is to line them up and run them to see.

They both respond very well to mods, just different mods, that's all. It really depends on how much restriction there is from the factory. It could be heads, or cams, or intake, or exhaust, etc. A first gen Viper RT/10 will respond MUCH better to an exhaust switch than my car. They have extremely restrictive systems from the factory; much more than mine.

Once I realized the Turbo S made more power stock, I figured it was just stock. A Turbo S modded would have walked that Z. I believe that car is making similar if not the same power as me. He was making 391/389 but the dealer relashed his ECU back to stock. So guessing he would make about what I make with no re-tune.
