Default Any stock LS2 vette or I/H/E C5z wanna run??

I just joined so I know this seems real cheesy. Baisically for anyone who hasn't been in on whats been going on the corvetteforums. Chevy released the LS3 motor for the 08 vettes. Everyone has been yapping about it and it makes a pretty good amount of power for stock(see sig). However, a lot of LS2 boys think the power is only marginal and that its not that much faster(if any) than an LS2. The C5Z boys claim to pretty much kill both of them(even though I have already out ran 2 of my friends I/H/E C5Z's at MMP for both E.T. and mph and they ran in much better conditions). So, would anyone out there wanna play some? This is TOTALLY a friendly run and this would settle this debate(at least for me). I am not some mad street racer looking for money and secretly doing little mods here and there. My car is completely and 100% bone stock and all I am looking for is some good fun, meeting new people, and no cops

LS2 kid is the only stock LS2 on here I believe but he is auto so blah.

I have been impressed with the LS3 motors; as far as what dyno's are reading. I made the power you make stock with I/H/tune.

I just read all the drama unfolding on CF.com. Those guys just have no clue sometimes. There is "some" good information to be found on there but they like to internet race alot. Unfortunately I dont know of any stock LS2 manuals that would line up.

I believe the LS3 will :idb: an LS2. Not by alot but a car or 1.5 from a decent roll.

See, I think I can get at least 2 . Lol, thats why I wanna run one. You think if you raced a stock LS2 you could only get 1.5 cars when you were I/H/tune??

Congrats on the purchase. Any plans for it?

I used to live in Vinings until I bought a house. I'm like 20 mins away now. I miss that area.

Well LS motors are weird and what I mean is some are stronger than others. My car seemed pretty weak from a baseline perspective compared to others. I have seen LS2 stock cars dyno 370ish range when mine stock did 350ish. Odd but happens.

Yes there was a good difference from stock to I/H mods in my car. I wouldnt second guess 2 cars with a LS3 vs LS2 race. Yours is a Z51 so a non-Z51 might put up a hair better of a fight with the longer 1-3 gearing, but wouldnt make a HUGE difference at the end of the day.

You are right about that. 2 cars with the same mods will make a 20RWHP differance sometimes more. My car is one of those weak C5Z comparied to most

well the stock c5z06's are faster than stock ls2's also.... i think a fair race would be a stock c5z06 and an ls3....???
but i'd be down for a run since i'm curious as to just how much faster those ls3s are..

i've got an 06 nonz51 6speed... only mods are intake and exhaust, so i don't know that it'd be much of a close race... those ls3's are monsters... congrats on the purchase!!
was at atlanta dragway this past friday... old guy in a stock ls3 auto ran a 12.5xx.... i ran a 12.858 @ 113.94 it'd probably be much closer if i got headers and/or a tune...

i'm not much for street racing, but out of curiosity, where were you planning on running? are you planning on running from a roll/dig???

yeah a lot of people on CF seem to doubt the ls3 potential, but i don't see how a car making that much power won't walk an ls2, all else being equal...

where did you get your car dyno'ed at btw? i've always wanted to do a baseline dyno to see where'd i'd be at before i start the "real" mods =)

Thanks guys. I live in Post Crest Apartments. There is a guy here with a Yellow LS2 vette with B&B bullets. Spoken to him briefly, but I don't think he posts on any car forums. As for where to run, I have no idea. I figured you guys would have some secluded place where you go, but I don't know. I had like a 40 roll in mind to around 120~130ish mph. I honestly haven't street raced in a very long time, I got into some trouble with it about 6yrs ago(speeding ticket), but I just would really like to see a comparison for myself between two stock cars. Here are some pics of the car and the dyno graph I did when the car had 1300 miles on it(only 2100 right now....870 of those came from driving back from Wisconsin where I bought it lol)

Yea, those are the new standard wheels for 08. They are ok. I eventually want to either get some Competition Grey or Gloss Black Z06 reps for her.

yeah i have no idea where to go for a safe race.. like i said, i'm not much of a street racer...

but nice car man... i'm thinkin about getting some comp grey repros myself EVENTUALLY... but since this car responds so well to mods, i'm not sure if i can get away from doing performance mods forever... lol....

i've been coming on this site more and more as of late... so let me know what you guys decide...

Lol, I hear you on that. I have yet to ever put a set of wheels on any car I have ever owned. I always put that $$$$ towards performance parts as that is definitely where my loyalty lies. HOPEFULLY the warranty will keep me from modding....although I am already planning on a Vararam/160-tstat/tune for Christmas lol.

that'd be a great start... i've got the vararam and corsa sport exhaust... nothing to write home about... but i'll slowly work my way up... everything else is so costly too... would like to get some 4.10s or headers.... but might just have to get a ported TB and intake manifold for only a few hundred bucks... lol...

but either way, i can't do s.hit until i sell my 350z... i've got some money tied up in that car... so i need to hurry up and get rid of it...

anyone looking for a 350z or 350z aftermarket parts? haven't decided whether i should part out my car or leave it as is....lol

ekim81, I think we would be a good run man, your car is only 1~1.5mph off my trap(although we ran in different conditions, so it could go either way). As long as I got a roll just to see how the cars compare, I am down for dig runs or whatever afterwards. If you guys ever know a place to run and are willing, just shoot me a pm

BTW, even if we don't run I would love to meet up and hear your exhaust. I have been eye'ing the B&B Route 66 for a bit as I love the way the tips look, but have had concerns about it being too loud and droning when I eventually went with headers(always heard corsa have 0 drone). So Corsa would be an obvious "sure thing" if I like it as much as the B&B

yeah anytime bro... i haven't really heard any other exhausts, but i'm happy with the corsa sport... i'll let you check it out sometime... i'm in gwinnett... let me know if you're ever in the area...

yeah those traps seem pretty close... would be an interesting run if we can ever get it together...

offtopic, but i see that you're an ME... did you go to tech by any chance?

I'm not sure if it would help your decision, but I have a stroked C5Z that has Kooks Longtubes and Corsa exhaust if you want to hear it and ride in to see about drone, noise, etc..

Hell, I would love a ride in a stroked C5Z whether you had drone or not lol. Good friend in Auburn has a 603rwhp n/a 440ci motor in his C5Z from Vengeance Racing. Yet to ride in it, but it sounds mean. Whats your setup?

I know him. Greg is it?

I'll send you a message when it gets out of the shop. It needs a couple more things before it's alive and kicking. We're shooting for the middle of November by the latest.

Yeah, he comes up here pretty often. I've got his number saved somewhere in a PM. I'll give him a call and see if he's coming on the 18th.

Yep. Owners name is Greg. He and I had some good runs back when he had I/H and my Evo had bolts and 264's. No point now obviously lol.

BTW, do you guys ever just meet up and hang out? We had a car deal back in AU where all of us would meet up once a week. Does that kind of thing go on around here?

You guys should come down to the Musclecar Evolution trackday at Silver Dollar on the 18th. There's going to be a good bit of Corvettes coming down.

As far as getting the car on a dyno, I'd recommend Vengeance Racing in Cumming and Dynolab. Dynolab is in your area but Vengeance's customer service is incredible and they're very helpful when it comes to suggestions with what your plans and goals are with the car.

I ran into Greg up at Vengeance last weekend (or the weekend before last). His car is getting some more goodies. That car is a monster for sure.

how much is the track day? i've heard silver dollar is much better than commerce (track prep-wise)... so i'd love to see if i get in the low 12s there... anyone planning on driving down together?

Well, like I said earlier, I have already out E.T.'ed and mph'ed my buddies I/H/E 01 Z in worse conditions than when he ran. I am down to race your standard bolt on Z from a roll just to see where I stand. Intake/headers/exhaust....anything more than that and I doubt I will have enough. Hell, I may not have enough for that, but I think I can make it close.

Ekim, I dyno'ed at Marietta Dynolab off exit 263 on 75N. Its only like 2min off the exit so its easily accessable and the fact that I live like 10min away makes it easy for me to pop up there.

Yea, he is getting an RPM stg. 5 tranny, a DTE Diff brace, and some Motul brake fluid done all at once. At the Musclecar Evolution trackday, will we be allowed to run or is it a car show or something?

    NevrNufTorq, my 60' was a 2.06

It's a 1/4 mile track and open to anyone that pays. He's also getting an aluminum radiator if I recall correctly.

even more impressive with a 2.0 60'. not a bad time for stret tires or dr's but man your car would be even faster if you got down to a 1.9 or maybe a 1.8!! congrats
