Default Turbo civic on I85 7-8

Not too much going on in here, so I figured that I would add a couple of posts.

On our way home from the track, We (2 04 cobras, 2 supercharged gt's, mach 1, and a svt focus) came up on a blue civic with some nice hids. As we passed him he gave us the bov salute. I stayed out of this one, But my friend in the mach 1 decided to line up with him. They matched speed, and went from about a 50 roll. They stayed even through 3rd, but the mach was able to pull about 2.5 to 3 cars in 4th. The mach 1 has 4.10 gears full exhaust and a tune. Generaly I don't like civics but this one was very nice, and ran real strong. The mach ran a 13.1 at the track that night. If the civic driver is a poster on here, That was a good run.

We were at Commerce. I ran a crappy 12.5 @114 with a 2.1 60fton worn stock tires. With some good tires I think that I am capable of a low 12 high 11 run.

is yours just pulley,exhaust,etc..? Doesn't the other 04 cobra have a aftermarket blower on it? Did he make any runs?

    My mod are:
    2.8 rr blower pulley
    100mm idler pulley
    Flowmaster catback
    Steeda cai
    Tune

The other cobra has a ported factory blower. He ran a 12.1 @119 but he had alot of wheel spin. He had some nitto drag radials, and still spun bad.

Not too bad. Do you guys get tuned or rather flashed with the SCT stuff by Tim Barth? I know a lot of cobras go up there and get stuff done. I'd love to get an 03 or 04 cobra and put twin turbos on it. I think that would be a nice supra killer on the highway.

At 454rwhp 474rwtq, to only run a 114mph trap is really low, isn't it?? Your ET will go down with better tires, but your trap speed won't pick up that much. I just figured your mph would be a lot higher than that.

Heck, I ran a 12.29 s ET with a best trap of 116.25mph with 2 out of my 4 cats taken out on my exhaust as being my only mod. My best trap came off of a shitty 60ft. I can't be more than 380awhp (perhaps 390awhp who knows). With 450awhp and 480awtq, my car will run a 122-123mph trap speed given what others have run. Interesting to see that mph of yours. We need to line them up on the highway. I would be interested in seeing how they ran.

Whats your car weigh? I know the cobras are pretty heavy.

With a half tank of gas and all fluids? ...somewhere in the 3400lbs w/o me in it. It's a 3395lb curb weight. I added heavy, 19" HRE wheels with 315mm wide rear tires. Those don't help rotational mass. My exhaust is modified, but nothing too much. They still have cats (2 out of the 4), so no straight pipes. Nothing else has been touched. My weight is probably pretty close to the stock curb weight + fluids/gas.

Even if they are heavy, that is a rather low trap speed for such high hp. Then again, most Cobras usually trap lower than I thought that they would.

Might have been my boy Todd, we did a T3/T4 setup on his 99 SI, in SI Blue, he goes up 85 often. 296 to the wheels on Hondata. It's pretty quick, was gonna run at Tunerfest. So it may have bee him.

i had a friend that ran low 12's high 11's in his cobra with 470 rwhp thats on ET streets though. befoire he sold it it had 600+ on spray and with the stock clutch and half shafts out back he ran a low 11's. (ill give him a call to see if he still has the slips of remember what the times were exact) no the less his car was real fast. i only got to ride in it w/ 470rwhp and that was pretty sick

    mods at 470 were
    S/C pulley
    full steeda exhaust
    steeda CAI
diablo chip (it think that what it was called)

then he had the S/C ported and the TB portmatched. added an intercooler (heat exchanger) and had a 50 shot. he also had sparco front seats and had a rear seat delete.
    here a pic of his
