SVT focus VS. b16 VX hatch and LS swapped EJ

so last night me and a buddy went out last night. Hes got a Black SVT focus hatch and its relatively stock except for a catback and a intake and some european shit on the car since its more show than go. anyway last night he had a headache (hes diabetic and needed some food) so i was driving lol.


we roll up in dultuh and this hatch with fogs gets on the SVT's ASS. at this point im like OK...what the fuck. so i take off at the light when it turns green and hes still on my ass (so close i cant see headlights) til 30. traffic opened up a little so i hit it to 60 and he wont chase..a few miles up the road, we stop at a light and i take off like normal since i didnt think he would run with a kid in the car. All of a sudden, i heard him hit vtec and bark 2nd so im like hmmm...lets see what the SVT will do. he took about a car and a half off the line so i was playing catchup. By the time i hit 95 we were dead even and he went into 5th and i just kept pulling him til 110 when i shut it down with about a car and a half.


We headed back toward my house and we roll up on a blue 95 EX with exhaust or so i thought. Kid had his girlfriend with him so after beating the hatch i figured this would be a little better race. we did 4 pulls. one from 20-120, 30-120, 40-120 and 30-100. the only time i didnt put ATLEAST 4 cars on him was the 30-100 and i was letting off.


We pulled over and talked for a bit and he had a LS swap with LS tranny. I figured with a LS he would have pulled the shit out of the SVT but i pulled him EVERYTIME. Not trying to brag but could it be just him not knowing how to drive his car or there being something wrong or should the SVT pull it? Same thing with the hatch..i thought a vx hatch with a b series would have had more pull than just in first when he jumped it


any thoughts?

yeah thats why i got a bad jump and was playing catch up and when he hit vtec in first i was like fuck then barked 2nd i was like eh, whatever...surprised me too though or i actually would have tried to launch

interesting.. An LS motor isnt really much with an LS tranny.. But the hatch with the Vtec motor should have gave you a better run (shame on him for racing with a kid in the car) but i guess both races were driver dependant.. I drive a LS swaped EJ1 but ive never raced an SVT Focus so ive really got no idea how i would do against one..

i think power wise, they are around the same but the focus is heavy as hell which i guess is why i thought it would be harder and that hed walk me especially with a VX

focuses arent that heavy compared to a civic coupe.

with the ls swpa and ls tranny, his gearing sucks, and has no vtec to look forward too at topend. svt's pull nicely especially once u get into higher rpms.

My friend has a black svt focus too..1st and 2nd gear sucks,it to long but 3rd and 4th are pretty good...The 2 door is about 2750 (in weight),thats heavier then a civic,the 5 door is about 2840

yeah so its a good bit heavier than the civic hatch then. i didnt realize theywere that heavy

if you start from the middle/top of second gear they are not too slow.

Remember 1st and 2nd gear has a different final drive(2.88:1) then 3rd and 4th gear( 4.25:1)

yeah i felt kinda weird but i was like shit but i just wanted to see what it was capable of honda wise lol
