Default New i5 quad core build...

So I built the computer last night. Here are the specs:

    Antec 1200 chassis
    Corsair TW850W PSU
    Asus P7P55D Pro
    Intel i5-750
    Corsair H50
    G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600Mhz PC# 12800Mhz
    BFG GTX 275OC
    2x 150GB Raptors RAID 0
    Win7 x64 Pro

The G.Skill has not arrived yet, so I purchased some OCZ memory to use in the mean time. One of the sticks was bad and drove me crazy all night, so I exchanged for some Corsair XMS3 at the same speeds. I must say this memory is impressive. I could tell the packaged was opened when I bought it but I decided to just try them out knowing I could return them no problem. I may keep these if the G.Skill don't perform. I wish the PSU was modular...

So I started some overclocking and here are the results after day 1:

Yeah the new core i5 and i7 is good stuff. Built mine with a Core i7 860, but the real kicker is the SSD drives. There literally a night and day difference. I'm watching them drop in price to pick up another one.

3dMark is more GPU intensive, which I am only running 1 GTX 275. This post was not about 3d Mark scores, it was about the beauty of the i5-750 and how well it overclocks.

Nice build! I'm starting my i7, liquid cooled rig in a couple of weeks.

Oh really? Care to tell me why? And the i7-860 is $90 more than my processor.

    i5-750 $179

    i7-860 $229

Only a $50 difference. Main thing that makes the 860 worth every penny is the HT technology. Shows as 8 threads. I got one and love it, almost as much as my older 920. Easy to overclock, and runs cool too
