If you use firefox as your browser, you can use an add-on called "AdBlock Plus." It works very well imo.

Yeh, and any banners/images it doesn't block on its own, you can do it manually. Just right click, then choose "AdBlock Image" and it gives you different options with the * symbol for different levels of blockage.

Pages should load a lot faster now.
