    Default Trunk Opinions

Alright well i have been making my trunk lately and as of a few minutes ago i have gotten pretty far. Its not the best work, something that you would see in a really expensive shop, but i did it, and to me thats what counts. Anys so far all i have gotten to is the dynomat (thanks to Wally and his friend), and have gotten the trunk base built tonight. This saturday i will hopefully finish it with carparting the wood, building the trap door, making the speaker box.

But right now i am up in the air with what to do with the amp.i was considering making a in air mount for it on the right side, but i am thinking about maybe boxing in the trunk as best i can and hiding the amp behind another trap door, then do a little custom decorating in it.

If you dont mind give me some opinions, to see what my opinions are!!!!

Do you have any pictures of your work so far?...it is hard to offer opinions without seeing the current layout.

Throw some pictures up and maybe i can help you with some ideas...

well here the ideas i have so far. In the back of the trunk where the indention is, i am going ot fill that with the two 12's in a box. You know almsot make a wall in teh back to completely cover that area with a wall pretty much. THen on the side i am down to two options either, make a in air stand for the amp so its visible and everything, or make a seond trap door, and make a cool looking door nad mount the amp on the back of it. Thats where i am at so far!

not yet, i didnt get that thing to fit until about 9 last night. Amazing how mmuch walking back and forth you have to do to get that thing to fit. There are only two spots on it that where cut short but they wont be a big deal once i finish. I will have it almsot all the way done saturday since i am off. But the onyl reason i havent matted it yet is becuase i still have to take that back out and cut the trap door above the wheel.

I would go with an MDF board for the bottom because what your using now is going to vibrate real bad. It will sound better too. Are you using the wheel well to house the sub or amps or what? Oh and where do the door nads go? JK I could not help myself. Seriously though use MDF board.

Its spelled dynamat and you arent using it...looks like peel and seal to me. Thats not a bad thing, but dynamat has thier logo ALL over thier stuff...its basically the same asphalt based deadener though...the average person cant detect an audible difference.

How many amps? Just 1? Are you willing to lose your spare?

Yeah its peel and stick, and i am using MDF board, for everything. Also i want to keep the spare wheel for right now. I am going to flatten the back with the two subs and bridge the speakers to one 1200w amp for right now, later to upgrade to a 2000w amp. But anyways i am going to get started on everything, so hopefully by tonight i will have the finish pics up, seeing as how all i haveleft is the caperting and the building the box left. So you will all see how it turns out later.

Well as of know, all i was able to do was to get some of the box buitl and get he base of the trunk done. Get it carpetted and get to henges put on. Also i left the henges in view becuase i went with polished henges and screws, since my subs ring and coils and such are polished, so with the black carpet it looks real nice. I will post pictures of it tommorrow if i can get the box finished. if not it will be done on monday!

i remember you saying you liked the way i did my trunk but damn it man.. < walled with floating amp and black material >
Anyways- You said you where building everything out of MDF board? Are you building the box yourself to meet the Reguired air space and to make the wall? You said your making the trap door in the bottom- is that for the spare or future equipment? Have you thought about the lighting < if any > you plan to use?
BTW keeping everthing one brand < Ma >

THATS IT, i couldnt remember who i saw with the floating amp. But yeah i need to get in touch with one of my nieghbors to use his table saw, so i can make the box perfectly square. Also teh trap door is just to get to my spare tire, and down the road it will be for equipment. Also i have already planned on lighting, just havent thought where i want it to go so far, still planning on that.
