    Default Rural Police Rant...

so I am driving in bumblefuck today, in the rain, and its a four lane divided highway (441 in Oconee County) and there is an officer on the opposite side of the road with his blue lights on sitting on the shoulder... with no car in front of him, so I pass by and glance over at him like "wtf are you doin?"

and about 15 seconds later this deputy is behind me turning on his blues... great... wtf.

so he gets out of his HIGHLY tinted patrol car and walks up to my car as he turns on his voice recorder and throws it in his shirt pocket.

"My name is ..... I am a traffic enforcer in the county, and i pulled you over because your car is too low... how much lower did you make it?" me.."2.5 inches" him.. "well the law is 2. I am not going to write you a ticket, but let me see your drivers license and i will be right back..." so he runs my numbers and nothing comes up, of course... and he was like "well its like a tint ticket. (I am rolling my eyes looking at his patrol car door open w/ the blackness on the glass)" and I said well i already stripped mine off... I am not changing my suspension, i think its a stupid law." and he goes into the "I know there are dumb laws, but its my job to enforce them..." spill and walked back to his car.

My only thought now is... what would have been the case if he had seen a jacked up four wheel drive today...?

I doubt he would have pulled it over.

In the town just north of here they are really bad about that. My friend had a ford on 49's with 19 inches of lift and he would always get pulled over if he went through there. Also they are really bad about lowered vehicles too. No other city or town around here don't care.

I drive in that county atleast 5 times a week, and have for over three years with my car being the same, and this is the first time this has happened.

Just check the law first. My number one thing. And Im not sure if it goes for here but cops in LA do a tennis ball test. If the ball rolls under smoothly its good but if it gets stuck your gettin a ticket.

I would use coilovers everytime a cop would pull me over, I'd be like wait let me jack it up..

I have airbags on my truck so if I ever get pulled over I can flip a switch and problem solved. I really would like to get pulled over and when he says it is to low, say you think this is low then drop it all the way down but I don't think I will ever do that unless the cop is pretty cool.

Thing is, though, if you do that, you will get a citation for using your switches. Operating hydros or airbags on roadways are also against traffic laws. Later, QD.

That is why I said I prolly wouldn't do that. I have done it once in front of a cop but that was cause I hit a possom and it was stuck under my truck so I raised it up. I didn't even see him till I did it but he didn't do anything.

The officer is right. Under the book, you are not supposed to adjust your suspension travel height above or below 2" factory. Later, QD.

I mean he pulled someone over 30 seconds after I pulled away, he was just flasher happy today... don't they have better things to do.

whats more dangerous, my lowered car w/ correct camber settings, driving at a safe speed in the rain, or him driving fast in the rain trying to pull me over for a BS law like that... thats my other question.

out of curiousity, why do you need more than a 2 inch drop, unless your tracking the car? I mean im dropped at 2 inches and it seems good enough.

if your car is the cd5 in the middle of your sig, it actually looks lower than my civic on the neuspeed springs, they were cheap and had the look i wanted,

this was before the camber correction so it looks lower because the wheels are tilted in alot...

hey, @ least he said the truth there and you didn't get a ticket.

these "rural" cops aren't as bad as the "used to be rural" cops *cough*Duluth*cough*. that were once in bumblefuck but have found themselves in a busy city and still think everyone is an out-of-town city slicker they need to bust hardcore....
