No one here knows much about HDtvs??? ..-.-;
oh well, nvm. then d'Oh.
Wow you waited a whole 28 minutes for an answer.
i'd say samsung but i'm sure there isn't much difference...
samsung over lg..
but otherwise neither.
LG is korean, id take japan over korea, other than that its the same lol

their 30" tv's.. thier not gonna be 1080p so thats outOriginally Posted by RB26powered
their 99.99% always gonna be a 720p setup which can take a 1080i signal.
And 720p , the p is for progressive. In the case of these 2 tv's they will take any signal and display it in 720p so they are "progressive scan" but its done on the tv side.
Samsung is better. LG is a very good entry level set though. But Sony's 34" xbr tube set trumps them all.
I know this, just didn't read the tv size.Originally Posted by DemonEyez
Regardless, all these factors come into play to determine the best deal, which is why I asked. Unless he's just speaking on a manufacturor basis.
In that case I would lean to Samsung.
yes but samsung and sony colaborated on the new samsung factories in korea. Cheaper to make it there + work force cheaper there than in japan. Also when this happened they signed a deal to share technology in which realisitically samsung is using nearly all sony technology except for their Image processors, like wega, bravia etc.Originally Posted by ironchef
So its basically korean in korea with sony's technology.
maybe so, but have you ever tried to pick up that damn sony? DAS A HUUUGE BITCH! plus its pushin 200lbsOriginally Posted by Demsum
Samsung hands down!! Samsung and Sony TV's have the best picture out there. The Sharp Aquos is coming in a close thirds. Then I would put Phillips in fourth. LG is a decent company, but for the money if you can get the Samsung, that would be the better Manufacturer (comparing brand to brand). Now the actual tv themselves could be completly different, but Samsung is a better brand. Without model numbers, there is no telling which TV is better.

Why not get a 32" LCD tv for around $500-600? Slimmer than those tvs your looking at and they are HDtv to boot. It makes more sense.
I sell tv's for a living so I know The Sony XBR tube set is heavy as hell, But all HD tube sets are. The Samsung is a little less heavy and takes up less space though. As far as LG goes, they are only cool for people that want a cool looking tv and not a good picture. I say they are entry level because the price is right and they look good to the average person, but to us that look at high def tv's all day long they don't compare to Sony or Samsung.
You cant find a "good" quality 32" LCD for $500-$600. In fact you probably wont find a good quality 32" LCD for under $1,000.Originally Posted by thatS2Kguy

I just got the exact Samsung you are talking about and I am having a repair man come after the first of the year to fix it...after two weeks. I could have taken it back but it weighs 145 pounds.
I got the 32" wide screen samsung, bought it from best buy, and i dont know if its the way it was designed or what, but the magnets to the speakers on the side will turn the colors on my tv, so i have to get that wand thing and wipe over the screen with it. The first one i had did the same, so i took it back and they swapped it out, but i wasnt taking this one back again, that bitch is stout.
Also it has HDTV 1080i logo on it, so does that mean it can display 1080i?
btw i forgot to mention you can get the sony kd34xbr970 for around that price. Its a 34" hdtv tube tv and simply the best tube tv out there by far. In consumer repots the no.2 tv is 18 points behind it.
