Cingular Rebate Card questions

I don't know if you guys know this. After signing my contract and getting 4 new phones with rebates, they sent me 4 cingular rebate visa cards, which is loaded up with 50 bucks a piece.

now, one of the card only has 4.49 left. If i were to go into a bar and spend 100 bucks on bar bills and walk out (leaving my pre-paid visa card). Do you think I can get away with this? has anyone tried this?

You will be traced back, is so easy to trace you. Plus I dont think the bar would be that stupid to open a tab with a visa gift card that has cingular all over it.. but who knows

1. The bar will see that you are stupid enough to try to pay a $100 bill with a $ 50 card

2. If you opened a tab, the bar would already have tried and "hold" a certain amount, causing the card to decline

3. Even if they did not put a hold on your card, you would technically need to wait until the bartended completes the transaction so you can sign the receipt. Therefore the $50 charge would not go through if you try to charge it all on 4.49 of credit

4. Any amount greater than 4.49 that you will try to charge will usually result in a decline

5. Even if you are able to charge more than was on the card, you would STILL be responsible for the charge overage. Don't worry. Cingular/VISA has ALL of your information and will issue you a nice credit card with the balance /overage charge on it.

my sister works for them and just showed her this thread... you can be traced by the card to which account it was given from. so even if you gave the card to a buddy to use that other person is at fault...
