As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Also, for the older crowd... are you doing it now? Why or why not?

--> The VERY 1st thing I wanted to be as a 6 or 7 year old was a truck driver. Dunno why, but I was facinated by the big rigs. By the time I was 10, you couldn't tell me that I was not gonna be an astronaut. By 15 I was going to be a pilot... and through Civil Air Patrol that came true. I planned on becoming a commercial pilot though after I got out of the military. Somewhere between joining the Air Force (in 1997) and the year 2000, I changed from a flying position to communications (Info Tech).

For YEARS I was upset at this decision, but when I see what pilots make (the ones that are not on strike and aren't laid off) I make pretty close and I also have a HELL of a lot more job security. So yeah, I am doing something I TOTALLY didn't plan on doing... but hey, it works. Funny how life throws you curve balls.

yeah man i feel you on that. i wanted to be a lawyer or work in real estate but i fucked up my senoir year of high school so now i work full time in retail. pay isnt bad but the hours suck ass and no room to grow really...definately not what i had in mind though

As long as we live, we have time to continue to press for what we want to do. It's never too late. Look at Brett. He is 132 years old and is only 12 years away from finishing the Civic.

Career Air Force, as a high high ranking officer pilot....

But reality wise.... i will be joining the Air Force in a few years once i finish college as an officer in the Non-Tech Careers...such as running a base!!!!

Hopefully nothing changes in the next few years!

when I was growing up I wanted to be the first asian basketball player in the NBA.. but then I hit HS and I was like, I SUCK.. or a baseball player..

you know, the typical kid shit..

police officer and firefighter.. I wanted to be an artist or an architect..

I wanted to be either a Marine Biologist or whatever the hell I could do with a degree in Russian History.

I'm an accountant with a degree in Computer Science, heavy on the math, almost changed my major to math but said "Wtf can I do with that?". I do really like accounting though, it's easy for me and pays quite well, but I'd like to not sit all day, every day.

Still want to go back to school though. I want to learn more of the tactile sciences, work with my hands more. One of these days I won't have to pay all of the bills by myself and that can happen.

AHAH ya I got my fav job. Jeweler. I have a better hands on ability so this is no sweat. I made a custom ring in 3 days. Easy and the customers give you gift like my father got a Cartier watch when it was supposed to be out in 3 months so I likey. And you sit on your ass. BAHHAHAH

I wanted to own my own body shop like my dad did but then I made a few wrong decisions and had to make some changes before my daughter was born so now Im in the Army but Ill be getting out in a couple months and my dad and I are gonna be starting our own shop.

Hmmm...I wanted to do anything and everything to help out my cousin when I was 5. She was diagnosed with leukemia and I just always remember telling her that I would save her life one day...

At 16 I decided that teaching was for me...At 21 I dropped out of college b/c I thought about being a physical therapist, but that meant that I would have to start all over in school, which meant adding 3-4yrs to the 3 I had already put in...

Now, I work in the healthcare field as an admissions rep...In the physical Rehab dept...So maybe, just maybe I will go back and decide to do the physical therapy thing...There is nothing in the world like helping little kids learn how to walk again after a medical treatment, birth defect, or serious accident..

From the time I could talk (my mom says) until I was old enough to be embarassed (which was like 14) I used to ask every one I knew if they would vote for me if I ran for president. I figured it was a long shot but if I asked every person that i ever met and they said yes.....when I grew up they would have to vote for me because they would remember that they said yes when I was a little girl. i used to imagine this bullet proof suit since obviously everyone would want to assassinate me. It looked kind of like an astronaut suit. It had like bubble helmet and the rest of the suit was shiny and bullet proof.

i wanted to be like my dad and wrk on cars. graduated from tech school in 2001 and look at that i have a degree in automotive technology. Now i wrk in a underground plumbing supply warehouse. the car biz is too fucced up and until u have ur own shop ull never get rich. so i sit back waiting and planning to be partners with somebody or take over alone.

I predicted MSPi was gonna take over didnt i? Stay tuned for my next prediction..
