Default Question about Salvage to Clean Title

Imma bout to buy a 99 red si that has been fix and repainted. THe damage was minor. Nothing affected the frame itself and it wasn't a front or rear end wreck. Just a minor side hit. THe title is currently a "salvaged title" and i was told that if i went to get it inspected for $180 that it would be changed to clear. Is that true?

I know my title is a salvaged title, but the owner before me went and had the inspection done, so I am not sure what requirments there are. But I know it is possible... since now I have a clean title.

There is a section on how to go about a rebuilt vehicle.... and salvaged titles...

Yes you can get it reinspected for a "normal title" but you cannot have anything painted where the damage was and a list of what all was replaced. If anything is painted it will not pass inspection.

Actually, it wouldn't be a "normal title," it would be a "rebuilt title", which has a whole host of negative consequences. There are ways to get a clean title, but they aren't exactly legal.

It can be done legal, Adam down at Adams Autosport did it on a totaled GSR but it was pretty intensive and time consuming for it to be done.
