These are the best machine going for riding really rocky, off camber, rutted trails. They have close to a foot of ground clearance and 8 inches of suspension travel that really allows them to "articulate" over uneven terrain. Compared to a Polaris they have a lower center of gravity and no sway bar-it gives you a more planted feeling on those scary off-cambers. This machine is the Auto 500 with a fully automatic transmission with high/low range and reverse. It has the bulletproof 500 four stroke engine that is quiet and starts in the coldest of weather. The Arctic Cats are almost maintenance free. They have a center clutch bathed in oil so there is very little clutch maintenance, unlike most auto's, and sealed bushings at all of the suspension joints. Most all of the mechanisms to operate the 2 to 4 wheel drive switch, the speedometer, reverse mechanism, etc.are all mechanical-no worries about getting the electronics wet and having a problem in the field. Simple and reliable. Plus it has one of the best rides in the business and is built in the United States-that has to be worth something! (Cat owners are the most loyal in the industry-a great group to be associated with).
