    Default Real Estate Job?

I am thinking about getting my license, and was wondering how good being an agent pays. How hard/long is it to get your license? This is really just something to support me until I can hopefully get picked up by a professional cycling team.

i've had my license for 4-6 months, its aight. Business is so slow, thats why i went back to waiting tables at chilis. Its is hard and requires long hours if you want to make money. I took the 6 week courses at the MLA in Mtn. Zion and i was able to take the exam on my 8th week.

good agents will make money well into the future from now. Its just 99% of realestate agents suck. Ohh, and this is atlanta, we arnt closing our doors anytime soon and the media is doom & gloom, i have read the stats that nov. was down 9% or so from previous years. Ohh poo...

I got my RE license in Dec. I too see the market is slow, but if you'll bust your butt there is still ALOT of $ to make.
Residential is a lil slow, commercial is always behind res in growth. Ex.- there's no need for a food store until alot of people live in an area and need one, but then w/ the food store comes alot of growth, and then res follows comm at that point.

Oh, the classes, I did the at GA Inst of RE. About $500, in class 3 days a week for 4 weeks. VERY intensive, very difficult IMO. I had a 100 class/test avg and got a an 80 on thier test to grad. Then I had to pass the state test.I thought it was much easier than the class test.

A wise man (my dad) once told me that there always seems to be to many people in every field, but the truth of the matter is that their are never of enough that are good at what they do.

So if realestate is truly something you are interested in then you should try it. See if you can get hooked up with a realestate company that does subdivisions. Make sure you get with a good broker that is really willing to help you learn.

well the one i want to get with is century 21 here and the lady in it goes to my church, but i'm not sure if she is the broker or not...i guess when you get with a broker you'll be kind of assigned to people if they don't request anyone in particular...i can do the classes online at north georgia technical college, but it comes out to like 750 after everything, plus whatever it's gonna cost me to take the test...i think i'd like this...the only thing that worries me is hours...i'm willing to work hard at it, but my cycling comes first, in a way...

My thoughts exactly, but I tried to put it a little nicer.. haha, ohh well..

Sorry Chef, but anyone that thinks the market in atlanta sucks, is an idiot... the market in atlanta for the past +10 yrs has been some of the best in the country, I tried finding stats, but couldnt.. But its true, Atlanta is growing at pace that builders cant keep up. The market has its up and down swings, its how your company adjusts to these shifts, thats what determines your success as a REA or similar.

Me and Big Baller are in similar business' if i remember correctly. And we could both say there isnt a shortage of buyers inless your live in BFE or Paulding..

it's not really how thy like it, cause like any job your not really there cause you like it. your there to make money. my friends dad is a real estate agent and i nthe past 4 years (he started LATE!! in the game at age44) has mad e quite a bit of money. the thing he told me was that one would have to initiall yget used to going a little time w/o making money, the long hours and hard work. but after his first year struggling, he sold $1.2M in residential real estate the second year, about $2.5M, his 3rd year $3M and last year about $5M in real estate. he works for a remax company but that's what he sold. alex and kevykev would more than likely know what is earnings were in those years, since carrascopa is a mrtgage broker and kevykev works in real estate as well i can't remember the exact area though.
