Actually Nero doesnt fit the entire description OR timeline. There is one that does however.
if i'm not mistaken revaltations/daniel point towards Nero and what he as doing to the Christians/Jews, there is many references to support this. (timeframe is correct as well)

Briefly...
There are several major problems with the Nero/666 scenario.
First major hurdle, in order to accept this theory one has to accept preterism, which is to say that the writings of Revelation were only for THAT GENERATION and were not prophetic in nature as far as the earths final events.
Secondly, the arrival at 666 as the value of Nero's name is based on an alteration of the actual name. Sorta like if I wanted to attribute a certain numerical value to your name "Admin" and wrote it out say like "Adminy"
The preterist view takes a relatively uncommon form of Nero's name, Nero Cæsar or Cæsar Nero, and adds an "n", resulting in Neron Cæsar. Next the Latin is transliterated into Aramaic, resulting in nrwn qsr, which when using the numeric equivalent of the letters, then adds up to 666.
According to the rules of Jewish numerology, known as gematria, when the letter Nun appears a second time in a word, it is known as a "Final", and takes the value of 700.* So to be precise, NRWN QSR actually adds up to 1316 and not 666.
Thirdly, the timeline of Daniel 7 doesnt fit Nero at all.
Fourthly, the timeline, sequence of events, and description of Revelation doesnt fit Nero either. The three different characteristics that distinguish this power are, his mark, (of authority) his name, the number of his name (666).
Only the number part has been really been used to attempt to "prove" Nero as the Beast of Revelation.
