    Default 01 vs 02 jetta 1.8t

I notice that from the factory that 01 1.8t come with 150 hp and the 02 come with 180 hp. I was wondering if they changed the way it is rated or if the changed something in the motor. thanks.

Well Yeah the actual Hp rating on them is like 160.....If I am not mistaken...But mine has a 180 rating from the factory.....I have a GLI......The GLI's and the 20th Anniversery have a 180...Not sure if it is the exhaust on the GLI's or something else....Holla

The difference in the motors is the turbo & timing...

    01: k03 turbo = 150hp (mine dyno'd just that w/ almost no loss )
    02: k03s turbo = 180hp
    ----------------------------
^ if your deciding between the two i would get the 01 if its a 4dr golf(rare), b/c they are cool , and the motors respond to ups very good.

02, you don't have to make up for that 30hp difference and chipped you should be in the 200's range.

Yea chipped.....you start runnin about 210 to the ground....depending on which chip you get....The best is GIAC (1.3 bar instead of APR's 1.0 bar).....holla

I Strongly disagree. My APR runs 20 PSI on 93 octane setting, thats well over 1 bar.
Chip vs chip is an argument that has no end, just by a reputable brand.

The K03 sport is the difference as Paul stated. You will notice a seat of the pants difference in stock form, not much diff in chipped.

    agree with allstar...
btw 20th and gli's have smaller exhaust than normal 02-02 1.8t. not much... you can fit a 20th inside an 02 pipe but 20th sure do sound better
engine code differ from 99-01. 02+ are awp... am i rt?

^ the chips in vw change the boost settings in the car as well as many other things... thats where they achieve max power running safely... your talking 20-65hp gains w/ a chip torque 30-75lbs gains. from what i've read and have been told if you want to safely run your dub w/ any after market chip it isn't suggested you run a boost controller.

what kind of dub are you trying to build??? vwvortex.com has just about anything you'll need.

I thought you had an amazing offer and passed it up because you wanted to keep your car? also.. unfortunatly i need to buy a car from a dealership because of how bad my credit is and i can get financed thru them. just curious though.. how much?
