    what year? i would go w/ 16v or g60 swap it is a a1/a2..... vr6 in the a3...

cheaper would be just to do a supercharger 150-190hp or turbo you could squeeze more power 175-200hp the problem w/ the swaps is your not going to make tons of power on any swap w/ your car, and unless you have the money to do the swap and a upgrades to the new motor which you would be easily in the 3000-5000$ range. i would just do a SC/Turbo 2000-3000$.

if money is an issue, i would recommend a vr6swap for your car..

you can find the full set-up for A3 for under 1000$ these days now.matter of fact, there was a guy in chattanooga selling his whole GLX for 700$.72K miles..got rear ended.if your insterested, i can email him to see if he still has it .

u can supercharge the 8valve but you'll be about as fast as a stock VR

thats is true but unless you can do the work yourself you are looking at fees to pull the motor, drop it in, then get it running... then you still need a rebuild kit, new clutch, etc... cheapest will be the supercharger/turbo if you need to have it done by a shop.

I'd do a 12v VR6 (Cheap and readily available), then later to the turbo kit from Kinetic Motrorsports... I just prefer turbo to SCs. The 1.8T is fun, heck I have 2, but the sound of a VR6 is sexy, cheap, and w/ boost very fast.

If you SC your 2.0, you still get waxed by 1.8Ts.....a chipped 1.8T is 30-40 more hp, and 80-90 more tq than a SCd 2.0. There is a reason they are called 2.Slows......

chmura has like 50 vws or something. he has one of every engine code probably. My point adarkexit is a 2.0 even w/ SC, makes less power maxxed out, than a chipped 1.8T w/ basically nothing done. Chmura has a turbo 2.0, that HASNT been on the dyno (nudge nudge)YET...

personally i wouldn't waste the money on the swap, its not worth it in your car... you can supercharge w/ all the bolt ons for cheaper and make out what a vr6 is stock... that is sufficient enough... if you want more power, build the motor as well, i've seen a few 8v built running 11-12s.

you can do an autotech head package (springs, retainers, cam, camshaft, etc) for under 450$ allowing reving to 8k if you get your ecu chipped to handle it, w/ that your talking more hp/torque to get your #'s up

if you want to do the head package let me know my buddy patrick did mine in a few hours well worth the money ; makes that 8v very torquie
