240 i belive most skylines are all wheel drive. and also the fact that u have a chance of wrecking when u drift u dont want to wreck a skyline. 240 are cheap easy to maintain easy to work on and parts can be found every where

I've been using my Murcielago and it works pretty well, even though it's AWD. Though it is real twitchy until the tires warm up.

Frickin retard. Read up on some of the old muscle car racers and drivers (actual track racing, not drag). Suspension technology was so primitive that the fastest drivers took each turn in a nice 4 wheel drift.

I bet I could out drift your punk ass in my F-150, it's been a lot of fun playing around in the rain while my WRX drift-wagon is in the shop.

Ummm Of all The AE86's that compete in formula drift with that 550 hp viper, none of them are stock you dumbass. Meaning You have not seen a 100 hp "eight Six" keep up with a 550 hp viper. You need to go to the local block buster or whatever, and rent The ORIGINAL "Gone in 60 Seconds", from the seventies... Watch the last chase scene, there is a lot of drifting in a 1973 mustang, and four door dodge cop cars, before any AE86's or 240sx's came out. There are plenty of american cars that are great drift cars. Oh and i would like to see You drift an EVO... would love to see you total it. People like you, and your silly opinions, Suck.

Ok to clear things up here. Taka's AE86 dynoed at about 190-200 something wheel horsepower. It also has a 20v 4A-GE swap and nitrous. This is America, so I'm glad to see American cars competing. The more manufacturers interested in the sport, the better in my opinion. As for my drift car of choice, well I'm really bad at driving in general, much less drifting. My drift car of choice?

    definitely the Ford Taurus.

Actually the vast majority of Skylines are GT's and GT-S's (base models), which were all rear wheel drive. I think a lot of people just dislike the RB20 that's in most of those cars, so they stick with the GT-R's.

PS... american cars have won most of the formula D events and Vaugh Gitten Jr. won D1 USA in a FORD Mustang.

but according to your opinion we shouldn't have drifting in the US at all since it didn't originate here. god knows that adapting to something is just gay like drifting an american car right? what's embarassing is that people like you have no knowledge of the sport or what it's like being behind the wheel but think that it's child's play to control a 550hp viper in a 100mph slide.

^ word. I have enough trouble with a 100hp corolla.
We should have pride in our American auto makers who are finally doing something about the competition and putting together appealing cars. Just look at the GTO. They are walking into a sport they know nothing about and kicking ass.

Yeah I think people can bring what they want. If it is good, good. If an American car is beating the Japanese cars in a Japanese originated (sp) sport, then I guess the Japanese teams need to keep up. I own a 240, but I have respect to whatever cars do whatever well.

I have seen the ford contour SVT kicking ass on the drift circuits in Germany. I think that will be the new civic, 240sx, whatever else is the new "trend". Of course I am not serious, so STFU!

haha I dont even remember posting that the other night. I'm all for seeing cars other than Corollas and 240s out drifting. You can pick up older rwd Mustangs and Camaros for cheap that have plenty enough power to drift without having to mod the engines. Slap some coilovers and tires on and be good to go.

I wouldnt mind seeing some more BMWs out drifting either.

it can be good and bad at the same time. a lightweight car with big snappy power can be more than a handful when trying to slide. a lot of people think you just get out there and mat the pedal and countersteer when in reality you spend a lot of time off the throttle or only at partial throttle to keep proper angle and not overpower the tires. if the power comes on too quick, then you'll find your ass leading the way instead of the front of the car more times than not. if the power comes on too slow then you can end up losing your slide mid corner because it's not quite there when you need it. this is all subjective of course, because it's up to the style/preference of the driver as to what they like.

as for the old muscle cars, they tend to be a bit sloppy for drifting suspension and steering wise... but any car can be set up how you want it with the right parts, and musclecars would be very easy due to the tons of off the shelf stuff you can get from a place like a summit catalog.
