its cool, very easy to learn... the number denotes the amount of displacement in nissans.
Like S13 = 1.3 Liter engine S14 = 1.4 Liter S15 = 1.5 Liter all Single cam (S)
Z32 = 3.2 Liter , lacks any cam, has electronic cylinder-head therefore "Z"
sr20DET = Single cam Racing motor 2.0L diesel electronic injection with Turbo
its easy to decipher Nissan terminology.
I highly doubt there is anything that looks exactly like that around those parts.Originally Posted by wes_297

yea, i thought it was wierd. i have seen very few nice cars up here. mostly stuff with stickers everywhere and huge ugly wings
Well if the car u saw looked exactly like that ^--(see above)- he had a huge wing... maybe he was getting groceries?

lol the car above IS an S15, notice the rear... u didnt see that on the road
Just curious...are you kidding? >.> You're right about deciphering nissan terminology but That info is wrong....Originally Posted by RandomGuy
no its all 100% correct... you're wrong.Originally Posted by ch33z
s13, s14, and s15 is just chassis code
sr20det
SR = Engine code
20 = 2.0 litre engine
D = Dual overhead Cam
E = Electronic fuel Injection
T = Turbocharged
You were right in some aspects but trust me...the sr is NOT diesel powered =/
and if IM wrong someone else correct me =p lol
I must be slacking in my intranet deciphering abilitysOriginally Posted by TheSnail

Sounds cool but all I gotta say...eww burgundy ><Originally Posted by wes_297
back to the subject.... please do not contest with me the fact that the D in SR20DET stands for diesel. The history of the engine is that it was primarily an industrial diesel engine very efficient in warehouse complex forklifts. The engine has since then been modified numerously and has became the potent beast of a street-engine.
The SR also stands for special route 20 which is a popular drifting strip in japan. Coincidentially the engine is 2.0 litre, which is strictly a coincidence. Its all a common misconception, I am just going deeper into the nissan history. Please do your research before posting.
Again: The SR20DET IS a diesel engine merely converted to run on gasoline.
on a side note: The picture he posted was NOT a S15 conversion, it was an S15.![]()

thats what a JDM second generation SR20DET looks like, it can run on both diesel and fuel.
There is a highway/road? in GA called sr20. I know some one has seen it. My friend told me that it was named after the 1963 non-turbo datsun tractor, but I dont know if he is telling the truth, so dont write it in stone.
The SR20 is just a myth to scare Honda and Mitsubishi people in to thinking our cars are faster then theirs
^ but its no myth![]()
hmmm.. I haven't seen it yet, I don't think.. Well, I might have and I just don't remember..
:boobies: &= :idb:
its true.... The SR20 is in fact a myth. It is a marketing strategy made by nissan. No actual engine exists in reality, only replicas of the planned out myth.Originally Posted by XBLG20
