Default What would u do if your mechanic raced your car.

aight here it goes. my car has been down for 2 months and i just got a new stage 2 clutch installed. So this morninbg in lawernceville i went to go pick up my car and before i drove it home. i wanted him to give me a test drive so that i new everything was working ok. we then headed out and came to a light. where me and him were talking and right next to us is a 00-02 mustang gt revving its engine. so i thought nothing of it and looked at the light. Green and my car F^&*ING takes off and im like wtf. we pilled 3 cars before the gt shut down. i didnt know how to express myself towards my machanic and i just left with my mouth open.if my clutch F'S up im really gonna be piss. but i want to know how should i had reacted to him for what he did??

O yea the gt got spanked by a mr2 at 10 psi

That is really up to you and how cool you are with the mechanic. Personally I would be upset.

He should know that your supposed to be easy on the clutch during break in period of 500 miles. I wouldn't take my car back there.

damn what a dumbass, i would have told him if it F's up in the next few days that he can replace it for free for that dumbass move.

I would have gotten him to sign some kind of liability agreement stating that if any problems arise due to his negligence he would be liable for the cost of any and all repairs including parts and labor. But like someone posted before depends on how cool you are with him.

FIRST, I THINK U SHOULD HAVE TEST DRIVEN IT. THEN WHEN TH STANG REVVED, told him not to do anything., or when he was first starting to take u for the tes tdrive, tell him to go easy on it, u spent all that money on the car for it to drive like it does, and he (for free) gets to wnjoy it just like u? wrong. tell the supervisor/boss, if hes a personal mechanic, dont use him anymore.

personal mechanic and i totally aagree with u

The reason i let him test drive it first, is so that he can show me how i should drive with the new clutch, then i drove it afterwards around his area to see how it was driving and it was fine, then i headed home.

Drive it on the street normal. no excessive RPM's (redline) but just normal driving. One way to do it is to get on 285 late at night and make some laps getting off at different off ramps in various increments until you hit the 500 mark.

Awesome. I'm just saying, a mechanic would never race a gt in your car period. Because he would lose.

That was pretty stupid on his behalf, that's a fast way to make a nice new clutch start slipping.

I wouldn't be too mad, assuming this is a mechanic I'm somewhat close to and trust... I know after I got the blower put on my car, Scotty the mechanic at Mustang Services took me out and absolutely tore up Canton Hwy... I came back with a big ass smile on my face. So as long as everything is still working ok, dont whine about it, I'm sure IF he broke anything on that test drive he'd of fixed it no questions asked.... Did you put your stage 2 clutch on to drive like a grandmother? no... didn't think so

No sitting at lights with the clutch engaged, either. Don't ride it, burn it, dump it, etc. Basically what he said.

What? Did you even read the thread? Is your car a manual?

And why did YOU race your car? It's slow too.

The thread is about a mechanic racing a car after the clutch just got put in.

Ok, so what did that have to do with anything?

You raced your car. Sick. The point is the mechanic could have damaged his clutch, not that somebody raced a car.
