    Default Auto Body Repair Shop

i found this on another forum, seemed helpful

    Rules of negotiating with Autobody:

1.) Never show them you appraisal from the insurance company, they'll just match it. (it's usually lower). Ask how much can you fix it for, warranty, THEN I'll show you how much my insurance says it'll cost, if yours is lower than I'll consider your service...

2.) Always fix all your dents/dings at once, it saves time, they already mixed the paint and have the fillers or whatever ready.

3.) Always ask for an estimate SEPARATELY then ask how much for a Combined repair. I will guarantee they'll lower the price. (mine was by $50 and a free repair on a ding)

4.) Always use paintless dent repair (google PDR) if the paint hasn't been broken. I appraised mine at $500 but did a PDR and they fixed it in 30 minutes for $90. It was so BS what normal body shops do.

5.) If it's not your fault, always ask the insurance for another check to cover the depreciation of your vehicle on top of the damages. Very Very Important before you cash in your check from their insurance!!!!

actually, I worked at a body shopas an estimator for a while and our estimates where "always" higher than the ins co. the ins. will send you a check after their estimate hoping you won't get it fixed and they won't have to come out of pocket to fix it "right". they figur the cheeapest way to do it,by using aftermarket parts not blending panels, etc etc.
I would recommend taking it to a body shop b4 the ins comes out and giving the adjuster the estimate and tell him, "this is the correct way to fix it. New parts were on the car orginally new parts are going on now."
you've gotta be tough with these guys their sharks andthey'll try and cheat you at every chance.

3.Best ins co. to deal with

    1. Ga. Farm Bureau
    2. Cincinati Casualty
    3.State Farm

    3 Worst to deal with
    1. USAA. there's an adjuster for them in the ATL area, he is a complete moron and a cooked adjuster. his name is Chris Morralas. he's tried and succeed to screw up costomers cars. I know he did to me at the shop. pm me if you get hit by a USAA insured
    2. Nationwide. almost as bad^ but will pay most of it after awhile
    3. Progressive won't pay, impossible to get ahold of the adjusters and slow to boot.
it's a damned dirty business and your best weapon is to be educated in your states insursnce laws. good luck

fuck yeah, progressive sucks, they gave me 400 (after 2 weekis of arguing) for 3000 in mods. i wouldhave pursued more, but i didnt have time, so i was forced to take a small settlement. they gave us runaround, and told us i could get a few personal things out of it, but we get to the yard, and they hadnt confirmed it or told the yard that we couldnt . it was a big hassle and they suck ass.

their favorite phrase "your under the impression that this is a negotiation, this is what we are giving u, and thats it, aftermarket parts mean nothing"
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
