    Default 1993 Nissan 240SX

This project started almost 2 years ago when I picked up a slightly modified car. Had some coils, KA24DE with some bolt ons, and a silvia front. Pretty nice car, but nothing amazing. I was one of the first people to get the Square wheels. They were great for the price.

And a stereotypical engine bay picture from the previous owner.

I decided the KA wasn't something I wanted to build, but I also didn't want an SR since my brother already has a pretty nice SR. I spent a pretty good while doing research and decided that the ls1 was the swap for me. I know a lot of people think it's the cheap way out, but that's just their opinion.

After a few months of looking around I found the setup to buy and made the purchase. Over last winter, the swap was completed with help from my brother and a couple of friends. We did it on spare weekends and used google a lot.

After the first weekend it was already in, albeit with a lot of work left to go.

From this point on it was pretty uneventful for a little while. I bought a lot of small things to get it running, and never really got in a big hurry. Then it ran, and all was good with the world.

I still need to relocate that relay on the left side.

At this point I started going to drag events to see how it ran. Here is a video from last year's Import Showdown in Montgomery. All those runs were on some sissy 225 Mickey Thompson ET streets.

Here is one from the fall Muscle Car Evolution track day. This was on some bigger 255 ET streets. For some reason I can only embed one video, so you'll just have to click this one.

After that event I traded the Silvia front for a kouki 180sx front setup. I'm finally putting it on this weekend and will get some pics of it. The car is also now 5 lug with Cobra R wheels. I'm really happy with the car and should be around the local drag events again this year, even though no one lets me compete. Thinking about doing some drifting events too. It's not the fastest or nicest car around, but it's definitely quick enough to hurt some feelings.

The first video my best was a 12.5. The second one I got down to an 11.91. The bigger tires made a big difference in my ability to launch. I think I can shave it down a little bit further with my new suspension setup (all the previous runs were on Ebay coils and no suspension arms).

I'll look at the slips tonight, but I think they were all around 115. The car has a 4.09 rear end and the t56 gearing is not ideal for that. 4th tops out around 115 and I just leave it there instead of trying to use 5th. I hope to someday swap it out for a 3.69 rear end out of an s15.

As much as I love Calculus, I probably won't dyno it unless I make changes or go to a dyno day.

Speaking of changes, the kouki front bumper is finally on. I thought I would miss the Silvia front, but pop ups never look bad on a hatch. Now I just have to acquire the rest of the type-x pieces.

And I also swapped my Fortune Auto 500's for a newer set of 510's from my brother.

    SPL arms

    And with the coil in.

Got it aligned Saturday and all is well there. Then I met up with some guys from Columbus and cruised around a little while. I didn't take my camera, so you only get one pic. I was planning to take more updated pictures Sunday, but the rain hurt that opportunity.

Next purchase will be getting a new radiator, as mine has acquired a small leak on top. I'm also going to splurge for a new GKtech reservoir since the OEM ones are so crappy. I don't even have one right now.

Finally got around to doing some more work on the car. I was continually having problems with stock axles, so I decided it was time to do something about it. Yesterday I installed a q45 rear end, with q45 and z32 tt axles. Apparently this setup is good to 800 hp, and the 3.54 rear end will work a lot better with the t56.

And I finally got the new radiator in, my stock KA radiator is glad to be retired.
    Out with the old

    In with the new

I have a lot more planned for this car, and hope to have it in tip top shape for Import Alliance next month.
