    Default WTB: Mountain Bike

I'm not really sure where to post this or if it's even worth trying this site, however I am looking for a decent mountain bike. But be at least 26 inch wheels or larger and it'd be nice if I could get a 18 inch or up frame too. Trying to keep it below $500, thanks in advance.

there are alot of MTB'ers on here, me being one.. but i think your better off buying a brand-new Hardtail from REI with a budget of 500 bucks.

I like the Diamondback Overdrive they have on REI, I was hoping to find that great deal. And we've been all over Craigslist and nothing yet.

yeah its hard to find a good bike on craigs for cheap. Most asking prices are high and the low priced ones are mega old. Took months to find mine at a great price. Got lucky it was satin black color option too.

Me and brother test road the Satin Black 2011 model it was great, but hard to tell if it was really worth $650. He bought some 29er at REI and I didn't ride it but he didn't like it. This is coming from a guy who used to Walmart Mongoose bikes. Any body ever try the Diamondback Overdrive?

well REI is having there 20% off member promo right now. Should be anything 20% off. Just need to be a member. I usually buy a bigger ticket item with the coupon.

I hear you on the $650. I test drove a Trek 6000 MSRP $750 (guy wanted $500 used, still looked new) and it was slightly better than my Specialized. To be honest i came from kmart bikes and never knew of bike shops until a couple yrs ago. And before that my friends' lower end REI bike felt smooth but those bike shops are the good stuff, but pricey. Craigslist FTW though.....

I got one too, but I used it for my brother's bike, he had the cash up front and I really wanted to try that bike out haha. I'll probably just get the diamond back overdrive they have on clearance. We need to start a discussion thread over this subject cause I want to know where you guys ride and what bikes you use.
