    Default Controversy concerning TI...

Not TI's fault here, but it involves him:

    From Yahoonews:

Apr. 19-25: T.I.'s Middle School Visit Met With Complaints
Posted Sat Apr 24, 2010 12:24pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in That's Really Week

T.I.'s March 5 visit to Woodland Middle School in Stockbridge, Georgia has outraged parents.

Tom Myers, the father of four girls in the Henry County School System, said that if he knew the rapper and convicted felon was going to appear at his daughters' school, he would have kept them home that day.

Myers told WSBTV Channel 2 Action News that his complaints to Woodland Middle School principal Dr. Terry Oatts were dismissed, the network reported Thursday.

Myers shared with WSBTV a complaint letter he emailed to Oatts. "In the future, if T.I. or any other convicted felon needs to perform community service, ask for parental permission to allow our children to be exposed to these questionable individuals," he wrote.

Myers was shocked by a flippant response he received from Oatts.

When contacted by WSBTV, Oatts replied, "No comment."

T.I.'s appearance at Woodland was confirmed by a representative for Henry County Schools. While parents were not notified in advance about T.I.'s visit, they were informed about a recent showing of a World War II documentary about the Holocaust.

Principal Oatts disagreed with Myers' proposed approval process. "Mr. Harris has never been convicted of homicide," Oatts replied about the rapper whose birth name is Clifford Harris, Jr. "We would not be able to adequately staff our states general assembly, our U.S. Congress or the executive branch of our government using your apparent standards."

The news of the email exchange has prompted school officials to investigate.

I have to agree with the "outraged" Father. There should have been some sort of announcement made to the parents of the school of this event. Having a convicted felon coming to a school is kind of something I'd like to know about in advance. I don't care who it is. Later, QD.

He's a changed man. While he did commit a crime with the gun charge I can honestly see why he had them.... I mean what do the parents think he's going to do, tell the kids to shoot niggas and get money? I can understand concern, but outrage is over the top.

This is crazy, let's say one of the parents of a kid attending the school is a convicted felon. Would the guy request to be notified of approval if one of them were to visit the school?

I agree that parents should have been notified. I would let my children go though.

I was at a Braves farm club game the other day watching the Gwinette Braves battling the Chattanooga Look Outs when all of a sudden one of those stadium salesmen came through yelling:

    "Apples! Oranges!"

Exactly. I'm not saying I would keep my child out of school, but to know in advance of what's going on in my child's school seems like a no-brainer. Later, QD.

lawls at people. for once we agree, i say there should've been notification but its not like he was out for murder. And I'd love to think he has changed, but i have my doubts.
